Why would it be anything other than the original aspect ratio?

I'm a purist. I got no issues at all if it was originally shot in 4:3 as long as the movie is pristine and intact.

The next wave of Disney titles is coming November 5th:

Moana
Big Hero 6
Zootopia
Tangled
Frozen
The Princess and the Frog

...and the final Marvel wave is coming October 1st:

Dr. Strange
Ant-Man
Guardians of the Galaxy

Re: UHD release announcements

The only Disney owned films I want are the OT Star Wars Theatrical cuts, Wall-E and Up so they announce everything except for those.

The fact that they chose The Princess and the Frog over Wall-E and Up is a head scratcher.

Disney's dividing their titles into distinct waves by brand. This is Walt Disney Animation Studios' turn. There are only 5 Pixar features that aren't on / have been announced for Ultra HD Blu-ray, and we're probably not going to have to wait too much longer for their final wave. I'd be surprised if we don't have them by the time Onward hits theaters in March (or, worst case scenario, when Onward hits home video).

I'm not convinced these catalog animation titles are worth a double dip.
From what I have seen (which isn't much admittedly), visually it isn't night & day.
Sure, the ATMOS can be great, but still.

In for the MCU movies and Frozen but passing on all the 4Ks that I already have 3D of (which are all of those). Princess and the Frog will drop eventually and I'll pick it up then.

Gotcha. Makes sense now that I observed everything being put out is Disney and not Pixar.

Just an FYI, but Diabolik and Synapse are selling this for a shitload of money. Bull Moose currently has it for $29.97 shipped.

Discotek Media:

November 26th 2019. Space Adventure Cobra on UHD in 4k!

Rightstuf pre-order link: https://www.rightstufanime.com/Space...TRA-HD-Blu-ray

This will be an all region disc! Japanese with English subtitles, and the English dub. This is playable on UHD players only.

In a universe swarming with inhabited planets and bizarre aliens, corrupt governments operate in the pay of star-spanning criminal syndicates and the Justice Federation of United Galaxies places a price on the heads of hardened criminals. The highest bounty of all rests with the infamous space pirate Cobra, an unstoppable rogue whose left arm conceals a devastating psycho-gun. Presumed dead for two years, Cobra comes out retirement after an encounter with the beautiful bounty hunter Jane - a decision which leads him into direct conflict with the sinister Galaxy Pirates, a vast criminal organization led by Crystal Bowie, the personification of death itself.

Available for the first time on ULTRA HD! Includes the original Japanese language with English subtitles, and the English dub.

Re: UHD release announcements

The Japanese UHD release of Space Adventure Cobra is heavily filtered/oversharpened; hopefully that's not the case for the American release, although it wouldn't surprise me if that compromised master is all Discotek is given to work with.

Something SAC and Suspiria have in common: neither one are combo packs. You only get the movie in UHD.

Easy buy.
It's hard to overstate the influence PF has had on moviemaking.

Discotek is having cashflow problems. I don't think getting into UHD is a wise move for them.
