I'm glad I held off buying the first 3 MI movies since they had subpar sound and PQ. Matrix trilogy (yes, I like all 3), will be nice to have as well. Standard "as long as the PQ is remaster appropriately in 4k" disclaimer.

I think I still have my Mission Impossible HD DVD trilogy.

Same here! Which means I don't really have it since I've had my HD-DVD player collecting dust for the last few years.

I've heard about that Hulk one before, and keep telling myself to take a flier out on it so to speak. Incredible Hulk is probably still my favorite superhero movie (or at least top 3) and still the best movie adaptation of Hulk to this day. So naturally I'm a little curious to see the quality of a 4k release, even if its out in the Nordics.

I hope it's global and it pushes Marvel to get on the stick with issuing UHD discs of the MCU catalog.

Yeah, even though part of me hopes it's not too great so I won't feel compelled to upgrade. Replacing all the Marvel movies would be an expensive rabbit hole to go down!

It's the sort of thing you have to qualify a little, but AFAIK, the only UHD BD from a major studio that's been announced/released overseas but hasn't been announced/released here (that they hold the rights to release here!) is Paramount's 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.

Everything else has been by studios that don't exist in the U.S. or when a different studio holds the domestic rights (like Warner's The Old Gun release in France, which is held by MGM over here).

Sometimes there's a lag, like we saw with Universal/Blumhouse's Split and Get Out, but they made it here eventually.

The Digital Bits

Not sure why I'm so excited about the JP movies being released on 4k since I haven't been upgrading any of my Blu's. But I do love the first one so I may at some point do it anyway.

I still have the Lara Croft movies on HD DVD but haven't seen them in probably a decade so not sure if it's worth repurchasing.

Nice.

I have Jurassic World on BD, but hoping the code will redeem on my Apple TV 4K. I’ve obtained quite the 4K collection after redeeming all those codes I’ve never bothered using until my 4K ATV purchase.

Jurassic World in 2D???

As for Die Hard, I'll just wait for all the complaints about it being out of focus (it's SUPPOSED to look like that! The 20th Century Fox logo is supposed to be stretched too, they fixed it on the DVD but not on the D-VHS!)

Well Jurassic World 3D doesn’t exist in 4K. Neither does any other 3D movie in existence as of now.

You can't get 3D in 4K correct? You can have one or the other? The TV's don't support it.

Re: UHD release announcements

And so is the format by continuing to put out 2D presentations of 3D titles. That's not an upgrade.

While I understand and appreciate your fanatical zealotry for all things 3D, continued 2D-complaining will be considered threadcrapping. This is not the thread for it.

A 40th anniversary edition of Grease is up on Best Buy's website, with an April 24th release date.

a movie that badly badly needs it. i watched the Rockin Rydell dvd the other night, and the dnr is brutal, especially during the Greased Lightnin scene and any harsh night scene. and supposidly they're also doing a remaster of the soundtrack as well

Re: UHD release announcements

The usual suspects (Amazon, Best Buy, etc.) have The Incredible Hulk as a $19.99 preorder.

Amazon France has the preorders up for the Jurassic Park movies as both separate discs and a 4-movie box set. I'm going to hold out til the UK has them up as box sets tend to be cheaper than the US counterparts.

Re: UHD release announcements

I noticed on bluray.com, Braveheart is coming on May 15th. I would assume its a new master on bluray as well. Plus I read an internet rumor of Mel Gibson wanting to do an extended cut. One can only dream, but I would buy it again in a heartbeat. It might just be a rumor at the moment it has no official press release.
