Same here, I've only upgraded a handful of existing Blu-rays. I was saying strictly about Blu-ray only new releases, which I guess is mostly a mental thing of not being released in a superior format.

Fox has the first two; Lionsgate has part 3. Lionsgate is interested in releasing as many of their titles on UHD BD as possible; Fox, not so much.

Ha, I was just thinking about that. Still holding on to this bad boy and never bought the blu-ray:

^Hope the transfer isn't fucked up like the Shout Special Edition was. It was literally unwatchable.

Re: UHD release announcements

Hopefully not! It’s a new transfer from the original negative (which Scream reported was lost).

Also, it looks like Studiocanal is releasing Don’t Look Now sometime next year.

In case the image didn't load for anyone, it's a German UHD Blu-ray of Dog Solders. It's not due out until Feb 28, 2019.

Looks like Doctor Strange is arriving on January 15th. On Amazon.com and everything! That’ll be some HDR goodness.

Nice, I like that they’re dropping all of the Marvel movies onto UHD so fast. Hopefully we’ll have them all by the time Avengers 4 comes.

Re: UHD release announcements

Dammit, when the hell are we getting ROGUE ONE? It's the only modern SW flick with no UHD in any region.

Re: UHD release announcements

right! For some reason, I was sure that I had a UHD copy of TFA in my MA library, but... I don't.

So both TFA and RO need UHD releases.

Re: UHD release announcements

With as keen as Disney is on the reissue-an-earlier-movie-on-home-video-before-the-new-one-hits-theaters, I'm genuinely surprised we didn't get at least one of those alongside Solo. I loaned my wife's stepfather TFA on Blu-ray before I ever had a chance to watch it, and he somehow managed to damage it to the point where it doesn't play reliably, so I'm in the market for a new release anyway.

I still am a bit confused as to why they didn't put out the first Ant Man on 4K when the sequel was released.

Re: UHD release announcements

So can anyone explain why the fuck the 3 old Rambo movies got a 4K release but not the fucking 4th one that should obviously have a 4K master available!?

The 2008 Rambo doesn't have a 4K master available. It was finished in 2K. Lionsgate could upscale it and give it an HDR grade, and they probably will when the inevitable box set comes out (which is what was originally rumored).

There was a big ol' Ultra HD Blu-ray conference in France, and all sorts of announcements have come out of this, among them:

March
Dawn of the Dead (another European release; ESC Editions)
Backdraft (Universal)

April
American Gangster (Universal)

June
Any remaining Fast/Furious flicks (Universal)

July
Scarface (Universal)

TBD 2019
War of the Worlds (Paramount)
Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan (Paramount)
Gravity (Warner)
The Polar Express (Warner)
Heat (Warner)
Lawrence of Arabia (Sony)
Ben Hur (Warner)
Panic Room (Sony)
Stargate Origins
The Mask of Zorro (Sony)
The Legend of Zorro (Sony)
Mad Max High Octane Collection (Warner)
Hanna Barbera Diamond Collection (Warner)

Re: UHD release announcements

^ I'd buy Gravity, Heat, and maybe Panic Room in a heartbeat. Max Max, too, if it has the black & chrome version of Fury Road in 4K.

Will that Dawn of the Dead release have the original or extended in 4K, or just the Argento cut, same as the set that's already out there? I'd double dip if the other versions are upgraded.

Their crowdfunding page lists a new transfer for the Cannes cut as well, and...maybe I’m making bad assumptions because they’re a French label, but maybe that’ll be 4K as well. They haven’t spelled that out either way.

I don’t think we’ll see the domestic cut until Rubenstein comes to terms with the fact that the 3D craze has ended and that the home video market isn’t what it used to be.
