I might be interested in this when the price drops a bit or I have a whole crapload of $$RZ. I only own the first one on HD DVD. The other two are my son's which he will take with him.

Please let these be good remasters. I’ll buy it when the set is $30-$40.

They couldn't bother to upload that announcement to YouTube in 4K resolution?

Re: UHD release announcements

I will probably stick with my upgrading HD DVD's as they become available (Batman Begins) but won't bother if I already have it on Blu.

Re: UHD Chris Nolan set

Any confirmation if the US release of the Nolan set has all of the BD extras discs? (Not just the movies discs)

Some countries get all of the discs some don’t.

Any news on the Us release?
And are these individual cases per title ina box or are the caseless all in one bespoke package?

It's a 21 disc set. Guess it's a mix of the 4K discs and blu-rays.

That price has got to go down quite a bit, but since Nolan is supervising the 4K transfers, I’ll definitely be picking it up at some point.

Re: UHD release announcements

Beautiful set but there are only two movies in there I want in 4K. I want Dunkirk because I still collect war genre movies and Batman Begins is on HD DVD which I am willing to upgrade. The $20 a movie is the going rate for 4K but don't need it that bad.

Re: UHD release announcements

That Nolan set is gorgeous. Problem is I really only want the Batman stuff and Prestige. And while I'm sure there will be a Batman only set, Prestige I believe is exclusive to the set because its a Disney title here. Maybe that'll be something I'll have to import (since its Warner Bros everywhere else). (Honestly I would only want the 4k disc, I could snag the import Steelbook fairly cheap...just thinking out loud).

Nolan collection will not have digital codes; individuals releases and The Dark Knight trilogy will. More info here:

All the more reason to go get the DK Trilogy and import the Prestige disc (Amazon UK, FR and ES are already showing pre-order links). Though honestly I might sell off my DK Trilogy codes as I already have them in HDX. Prestige code would probably not even work here. (Yep, it's showing as MA only)

Re: UHD release announcements

Okay, this seems as good a place as any to ask :
I was going to redeem my code from UHD/3D of Passengers.

The insert says I should redeem it at Sonypictures.com/uvredeem . I redeemed my first UHD code there (for Angry Birds) and it totally screwed me out of a UHD copy. Don't really want to do that again. Checking this wonderful database, it looks like I can get a 4K iTunes Copy and a HDX VUDU copy if I redeem it at MA instead (but won't get a UV entitlement that way). My question is : If I redeem it at VUDU first, will I get both a UV copy and the 4K iTunes version? Thanks for the help!

(I'm also going to ask in the MA thread; sorry for the double post)

The way I'm reading it is...you will get the 4k copy of Passengers in ITUNES if you do a MA redemption and it will port over to VUDU as HDX...but you won't get UV.

If you redeem it through Sony Pictures Store and have a Sony TV, you will get 4k through the Sony app, have it as UV and it will port to VUDU as HDX. It also should go over to MA as well, but will be only stored as HDX.

And to answer your last question...I think if you redeem at VUDU, the whole thing messes up. You would probably get UV and MA, but only at HDX. No Itunes 4k for you, nor Sony Pictures 4k.

Basically VUDU screws up everything .

Re: UHD release announcements

There are murmurs about 2001: A Space Odyssey hitting UHD BD, possibly as soon as March or April. The 50th anniversary is in April, BTW. It's already listed on some retailer sites in Sweden and Finland.

Re: UHD release announcements

  • Amazon.de is listing the first Matrix flick as coming to UHD BD in May.
  • Supposedly a Mission Impossible collection is on its way from Paramount too.
  • A bunch of Universal titles are showing up in Nordic release lists: all four Jurassic Parks, The Big Lebowski, and The Incredible Hulk, most notably.
