Re: UHD release announcements
So The Holdovers isn't getting a 4K release, eh?
Or is it one of those titles where the 4K shows up a few months after everyone* bought the Blu-ray?
*lol. lmao, even.

Thanksgiving comes out on bluray at the end of the month but Im holding off until next fall in case a 4k edition is released. Kind of the same problem with The Holdovers.

I don't need to own Major League but that Steelbook design is really nice. Very cool for big fans of the movie.

UPDATE #8
Our New Year's Resolution is 4K!
Dear Backers,
The new year is a time for reviewing past decisions and resolving to do better. And based on your input and generous support of the project, we now have the resources to attempt something we've wanted to do for a long time.
We want Macross II to be our first release in UHD 4K!
To support this, we have added two stretch goals to the project:
First, at $250K, we are committing to authoring Macross II in 4K.
Backers who want to receive a Blu-ray / UHD combo (2 discs instead of 1) will be able to add-on UHD for $10 post-campaign. In addition, the 4K materials will also be used to author the Blu-ray release.
Second, at $351K, we will celebrate Macross II being our biggest Kickstarter ever by upgrading all backers to a Blu-ray / UHD combo release at no additional cost!
Wait... what's that, you say? We've already passed $250K?
Well, that first stretch goal wasn't much of a stretch after all. D'Oh!
Finally, in addition to all of this, we are still actively looking at ways to add some extra goodies to the physical package - goodies that every backer will get. Your suggestions in the previous update thread have been very helpful, so keep them coming!
Many thanks to everyone at BIG WEST and Creative Sphere, without whose hard work this wouldn't be possible.
Happy New Year from Robert and Natsumi!
PS: The reason the UHD add-on has to be post-campaign is that once we create an add-on, we can't remove it, and if we hit the second stretch goal, it becomes redundant.

This is going to be a proper 4K release, not an upscale. We will be doing a HDR color grade, but the exact details on that and other steps in the chain are contingent on what we uncover along the way. Same goes for audio; right now all we know for sure is that we have the final 2.0 mixed tracks, but the Combat Archaeology Team is still hopeful they can uncover the original separated tracks.
$352,592 pledged of $75,000 goal
3,285 backers
46 hours to go

UPDATE #15
UHD for U!
Macross II is now our most successful kickstarter, and that means we get to reuse this image yet again.
Assuming we aren't being trolled by Macross-hating Marduk infiltrators who will now cancel their pledges, all backers will now receive UHD/BD combo sets at no extra charge.
However, we do have several days to go, and this does raise the issue of the next stretch goal.
If we hit $401K (because if the campaign gets this large, we can probably retire), we'll add something to the project. We're not sure what yet, it may be physical or digital, but post-campaign we'll narrow it down to several options and you will get to vote on which gets done.
The suggestions in previous updates for add-ons have been very helpful in figuring out what we might do; we've already been pricing stuff out and figuring out the logistics. So keep those suggestions coming!
Best
Robert & Natsumi
PS: Huge thanks to Creative Sphere once again for all their help in putting this project together!

I backed last night, so clearly I’m to thank for the campaign crossing the threshold. You’re welcome, everybody!

I am a big fan of art books, so the Premium Macross II Blu Ray tier (which now guarantees me a 4K Disc) is awfully tempting, should I go for it? Apply some peer pressure to me, lol.

A24 is putting out a UHD release of Stop Making Sense:
A24 will also release a special collection of merchandise available to purchase at selected theaters. A presale for a collector’s edition 4K and Blu-ray release of the film will open Jan. 27. And considering Talking Heads reunited to celebrate the film last year at Toronto International Film Festival, perhaps members of the band will make surprise cameos at theaters throughout the theatrical tour.

UPDATE #18
Upgrades? Extra Sets? We've got you covered.
Dear Backers,
As promised, we've activated a page on our website for purchasing upgrades and extra sets (as well as permitting late signups for people who didn't manage to initially back the kickstarter).
The url is https://animeigo.com/macross2
In addition, we've completed the initial data import from Kickstarter and will be sending out status emails over the next 3-4 days (we are starting slow in case there are some unexpected issues). Some things to be aware of:
- The data we have is several days old, so if you recently completed the Kickstarter survey, we may not have gotten the data yet. Don't worry, that'll happen next time we do a download and we'll automatically send you another status email.
- If you backed at the Wendy Ryder Fan Club level, you don't need to enter a survey because we don't need your address information.
- There's no need to worry about updating your address at this point, since we do address verification just before we ship.
- DO email us if your order doesn't seem to be correct, or if you want to change your email address or "Name on Disc" (pseudonyms are fine).
- If you pledged bonus support and want to order extra stuff, just do so using the website. When we process your order, we'll see you have a credit balance and we'll use it up and apply a matching refund to the order.
- We may be a bit slow processing these orders at first as we troubleshoot the order importing process; there's always a few things that change between each Kickstarter we do.
