I watched it recently and liked it a lot. It's not so much a swashbucling pirate film as it is a movie about a fucked up group of pirate-types who live like nomads on an island. It's got a good Morricone score, IIRC. And Caine is great.

Which is strange, as Cliff had mentioned doing additional work on the transfer.

I remember seeing this when I was a kid and hated it. I knew it had some kind of connection to Jaws, and I thought it was going to be a horror movie, but I remember it boring the shit out of me. (Or am I thinking of The Deep?)

I guess we'll have to wait for the DVD Beaver screenshot comparisons.

Sounds like you're thinking of The Deep.
I saw this in the theatre as a kid and liked it quite a bit.

Finalized extras on Terror Train:

- Destination Death - An interview with Producer Daniel Grodnik

- Riding The Rails - An interview with Production Executive Don Carmody

- All Aboard! - An interview with Production Designer Glenn Bydwell

- Music For Murder - An interview with Composer John Mills-Cockell

- Original Theatrical Trailer and TV spot

- Still Gallery with rare photos.
The commentary track had to be scrapped:

What the hell...? Kind of odd that he would go through the trouble of showing up and then just bail.

Not only did Cliff say that, but one of the posters at Blu-Ray.com whom got the disc early through DD claimed to watch it, and that he could tell that there had been some clean-up done on dirt and scratches.

I'm still grabbing this (at this point, I plan on grabbing all the Scream Factory titles, even ones I've got already, like Halloween II and The Funhouse), though.

I agree. I could understand not being able to fit it in the schedule. But showing up and changing your mind seems stupid and rude. So to make up for that, I did find this lengthy interview with the director about the film.

First problem was believing a 12 year old from Blu-ray.com.

Soon you can take a trip to DEATH VALLEY! Here's an exclusive first look at the official DVD & Blu-ray combo pack design which incorporates the original theatrical key art.

This 1982 film stars Peter Billingsley (before he wore a pink bunny suit as 'Ralphie' in A Christmas Story) and has never been on DVD or Blu-ray before.

Keep checking back here within the next few weeks for an update on street date and preorder links.

So many of these titles make me want to build a mini drive-in !

I was at the Scream Factory booth at this years CC and tried to weasel the display copies of H2 and 3 along with Terror Train and The Funhouse.
All I got were buttons with disc art on them ... oh, and some Scream Factory 'silly-putty'

Awesome extras, very much looking forward to the Carpenter/Piper commentary.

I'll pick up Death Valley too, think I'll skip the Island though. Doesn't look "horror-ish" to me

re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread

Again, I can't help but find it odd that they could get Carpenter for They Live, but neither of the Halloween films, which he was a producer and creative force on. Kinda like how they apparently didn't get Chris Elliott for extras on their release of Get A Life.

*shrugs*

Anyway, I just got an e-mail from Shout, that they've shipped my copy of Halloween III, along with the poster. Hopefully it won't be in transit too long...

I was under the impression that the commentary was ported over from the old region 2 DVD that was recorded years ago. Have they confirmed otherwise?

I'd assume it's the R2 commentary, but the rest are likely new supplements.

Carpenter is sick to death of discussing the Halloween films, but I think he sees They Live as one of his more precient films that gets overlooked, hence his willingness to be involved in the bonus features.

I haven't seen any confirmation for or against it being a new commentary, but I know Cliff has gone on record saying they were wanting to produce new material rather than license previously existing extras (which is why The Funhouse will have different extras compared to Arrow's Blu-Ray).

Anyway, I just got home to see that my copy of Halloween III just arrived. Not as early as those whom got 2 and 3 from DeepDiscount, but still 10 days early; I'll take it...
