The Canadian DVD 3 disc release has that same master, right down to the incorrect subtitles. I’m guessing that’s where it came from. Those extras on the Canadian release amount to those 2 documentaries. At either rate, I have the Canadian release and the French blu one. I guess that’ll have to do.

No, I used to own that Canadian DVD set and the subtitles were fine. I also have the French (I think it's French) HD-DVD import. That has great subtitles. I've never owned a BOTW version with crappy subs. I'd remember that shit, especially with that Canadian 3-disc set.

IIRC, the Region 1 Universal DVD of the theatrical cut had a dumbed-down subtitle translation, but the Canadian extended cut DVD had better subtitles.

So I guess Korean release is the way to go and will watch the movie, but those Shout extras are enticing, but the extras are SD. What’s up with that? I mean great extras and long and very enticing to get just for those even though most likely one time viewing as most of these are, but SD? That’s another swing and miss. Why couldn’t they spruce that up? Why couldn’t they have spruced everything up? Why do a release of an excellent cult title, only to not do it the justice it deserves in any dept. Shout is better than this.

At least Dead Zone got high praise and can’t wait to dig into that. Wish more than just new commentaries and few hold over extras from DVD, I guess. But, a/v high marks.

No they're not, this release was a low effort cash grab. Wait for the 4k UHD which is coming.

The extras may have only been produced in SD originally.

ok. could still look ok. perhaps i'll get the Shout for extras and use the Korean blu as movie. that has decent transfer, right? heard some of the subtitles on extras are even f-ed up. so stupid. could've been such a great release. i know most of these actors can speak fluent English. did they film this only in French or English as well? wondering if the English soundtrack is them or not...

As already discussed, there is only one HD master for this movie. All copies look like crap.

It's a French movie made in France with French actors speaking French.

I guess I got it with gc from Walmart. At least very substantial extras and more Monica is never a bad thing. I don’t think I’d even care about transfer or some bad subs. I won’t know any different, so no need to swap Korean disc. Barely remember first time on DVD, but knew I loved it.

All of the Halloween 4k releases have been bumped back to October 5th according to the Shout Factory website.

RE: Brotherhood of the Wolf

Nope. Fuck that. I'm not gonna pay $30 for what is essentially a special features disc. Nothing for me until the 4K disc is released. The French BD import is just fine.

Shout actually got a great film transfer for The Dead Zone CE. Blows away every version I've ever seen. Paramount did fantastic work on the scan.

RE: Brotherhood of the Wolf

Hi,

We are offering a replacement program to correct errors in the English subtitle track found on disc 1 on The Brotherhood Of The Wolf (Collector’s Edition).

If you would like to sign up to receive the corrected disc at no cost to you, please go to https://www.shoutfactory.com/replace...ctor-s-edition and follow the instructions on the form. Please note that if you live outside the US and Canada, you will need to use a freight forwarding service to receive the replacement disc.

When filling out your form, you will need to upload a copy of your proof of purchase (photo or scan of receipt or digital receipt from online retailer).

Corrected discs will be marked with “R1” on them. They will be shipped in a rigid cardboard mailer and the disc will be placed in an individual sleeve to protect it further in transit.

Corrected discs will be available by mid-October of 2021. There’s a possibility they may arrive sooner, and we will make every attempt to ship them to you as soon as it is possible.

Thanks for your understanding,
Shout!

Well, that was easy. Thanks for posting Blu. Maybe we’ll get new transfer too. :fingers crossed:

Why on God's green earth would they do that when the correction is only a subtitle?

When it’s a French film and virtually everyone watching it in the U.S. relies on those subtitles?

I think he was referring to OldBoy's hope for a new transfer on a replacement disc.

They would do another transfer if they were only supposed to fix subtitles?

Sorry, I missed the context in your earlier post. I thought you were wondering why they would issue a replacement just because of subtitle issues, but dsa_shea clued me in to my mistake.
