Shout Factory has a spotty history of providing drastic PQ upgrades, but the new 30th Anniversary edition for When Harry Met Sally is a stark upgrade. A 4K transfer from the camera negative.

i'm so torn. not sure worth the upgrade for such a great movie. i have the older release and this adds that 45 min extra, but not sure worth that...

It's a funny, entertaining discussion if you are a Billy Crystal fan. Reiner and him are close friends. I found it more entertaining than the commentaries.

Missed the post about The Green Inferno. A bit of an odd choice if you ask me considering it’s relatively new and wasn’t very popular. Seems weird to revisit a film that’s only a couple years old with a new Blu-ray. Not really a fan of most of Roth’s stuff and cannibal films aren’t something I’m into so I’ll pass.

Because this was such a high demand title?

I guess it has Sly Stallone in it.
Don’t think I’ve even heard of the movie...

Who the hell is going to buy that?
Granted it's claim to fame is being Stallone's directorial debut, but I highly doubt that Shout will be able to get him to participate in any bonus material.
Shout should have gotten the rights to Victory. I think that's a really underrated Stallone film that doesn't have a decent release.

If they don't already have one, Kino should broker some kind of deal with Universal. That's exactly the kind of title that should've went to them, at best. At least people who like it would have a chance at getting it for less than ten bucks during one of their sales. At Shout's ridiculous price points, their "Selections" increasingly leave a lot to be desired.

Yeah, KL does have a Universal deal. William Wyler's The Good Fairy is one they've announced recently. I definitely agree that Paradise Alley seems way more like a KLSC title than Shout Factory, but I don't know if this is one of those things where they say "we want Title A, Title B, and Title C", and Universal says "okay, but you have to take some of this dreck as part of the package too".

I thought they had a deal, but couldn't remember where I'd read about it and didn't have a chance to search. I'm sure dreck is part of the deal in a lot of these studio contracts -- anything to keep milking a few bucks out of a century's worth of underperformers -- but to me that makes KL an even better candidate almost entirely due to affordability. They've done some excellent editions of titles many folks would consider dreck, or borderline dreck, but they know those titles matter to someone, somewhere, and they price accordingly and seem to allow considerable flexibility to other sellers, so my hat's off to them. They seem to understand that unwavering $25 price points are not a good idea. Who knows, maybe if Shout keeps releasing stuff like Paradise Alley to diminishing returns, they may learn it too.

Who's asking for these titles as SE BD's?

I get the feeling that Scream Factory picks their releases based on who they know around L.A. and what cast/crew are willing to sit for special features. Or at least which cast and crew are willing to do it for very cheaply.

Someone like me.
I not only have fond memories of this film- from seeing the ads for it around Christmas time in '78 when Superman was the latest and greatest thing, to then finally seeing it multiple times on HBO a year later- but I genuinely still find it entertaining.
It's an ensemble, character based film with a lot of period atmosphere. It's also fun to see Stallone (knowingly) playing a douchebag. He rehabilitates himself by the third act, but for most of the film the character he plays is a jackass who is made to look like a fool.
It really one of the few (only) Stallone films I still enjoy. All the 80's stuff onward is what is the real cheesy shit to me.
I remember seening the trailer to Cobra in the theater and I, swear to God, thought I was watching some kind of SNL parody of an action movie.
Not planning to pick up the Shout release of PA. I've already owned the Italian Bd release for several years now.

I'd really like shout factory to do a double feature of Problem Child 1 and 2.

If you were twelve years old in 1986, Cobra was just about the most awesome movie that wasn’t Star Wars.
