The Miramax DVD looked horrible. You did yourself a favor waiting.

Really? I picked my copy up for 99-cents at one of the many going-out-of-business sale at Blockbuster earlier this year. Thanks for the tip.

Same here. I may have to try and part with it.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Is there a Criterion DVD thread equivalent to this one?

Anyway...Criterion posted a coupon on their Facebook page that gets you 50% off the DVD of Equinox at Criterion.com. But it appears the code also works on a few other genre titles. The code is MNSTR and the list of titles is:

Equinox
The Blob
Fiend without a Face
Monsters and Madmen box set
Eclipse Series 37: When Horror Came to Shochiku (Pre-order)

You can probably get these cheaper during the new B&N sale but I never assume there will be one and I especially never assume I'll be able to use coupons.

When is the last time Criterion had a site-wide sale? It seems they are due.

Thanks for that. I just ordered Eclipse 37, along with a House poster (hey, I've got a T-shirt for it, I might as well get the poster too!). I've already got Equinox and the Monsters and Madmen box, and frankly, I'm at the point now where if I don't own it already, I'd rather wait for Blu-Ray releases of the mainline titles (especially since The Blob is rumored to be coming soon).

just watched Purple Noon on Hulu. Really liked it. Have Brazil box set with the anamorphic release too. Also the Universal Blu ray. Do I really need the new Criterion too? Favorite film . . . but

For me, December has often been a pretty ho-hum month for Criterion. Not this year!

I still have my review screener of the aborted Sony Blu-ray. What a clusterfrack that was, even worse than the Fox disc.

Thanks for the warning! I thought they usually had an announcement/sent out an email when that happened.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I know they did when a bunch of the Studio Canal titles all went OOP together, but I know some titles go OOP quietly, too. Pygmalion is one I know that went quietly OOP some time ago (although they've said that they will eventually revisit it).

At least I have this thread to keep me up-to-date. I've said I'd try to avoid another Third Man/Man Who Fell situation and get them as they go OOP, although I have a feeling this one might be more of a Pierrot Le Fou.

With the discount code cyber25, this is now only $14.24 + shipping ($4.95).

The discount code gives 25% off everything and is only valid today.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Criterion flash sale.

For only twenty-four hours, until noon tomorrow, all in-stock Blu-rays and DVDs will be 50% off the suggested retail price (SRP). Just enter the promotional code FLASH on your shopping cart page at Criterion.com to apply the discount.

If you need some help deciding what to buy (and have two and a half minutes), check out this video.

The code expires at noon tomorrow, so don’t delay!

Too bad it doesn't work on pre-orders - I'd probably order 9 or 10 things if it did.

As it is, I'll probably get Rosetta, Le Havre, and one or two others.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

It doesn't release until tomorrow, but the code is already working on Eating Raoul.

I just placed an order for Down By Law, Eating Raoul, and The Game. Total = $59.91

This is my first time placing an order on Criterion's site. What kind of wait should I expect with their stand shipping?

It works on titles coming out tomorrow, and maybe those in the next batch as well.

Not exactly sure but I think the delivery is supposed to be a speedy one. I know they overcharge like crazy to ship to Canada so I think I'll have to pass this time around.

ETA: It seems they have fixed their Canadian shipping, I think the base price was $20 back in February
