I'm still waiting for the proposed Ghost World Criterion BD.

I'm expecting it to be a tentpole fall/winter release for them. I don't think it's a if, but a when.

I don't know. Last I heard, they hadn't actually obtained the rights, although they did say they were interested.

With that said, I hope it happens. Ghost World was actually one of the first DVDs I ever bought, and a Criterion Blu-Ray (not to mention one that could potentially include all the deleted scenes, either separate or recut back into the film) would be fantastic.

How long ago was the last you heard? I too would love to see this on blu.

Well, the news broke almost two years ago on Criterion Cast. They said that "the ball was rolling," based on comments that Zwigoff had apparently made to someone whom then passed it along, but since then, there's been nothing said about it.

Any October predictions? I'm guessing:

My "grasping at straws" guess is hoping that The Tenant will accompany Rosemary's Baby.

Is it me or does A Face in the Crowd sound like the kind of movie that Criterion would put out?

I could be wrong, but I don't think WB licenses catalog titles to Criteron.

They did w/ Stagecoach...so it's possible.

Not licensed from Warner, WB handled the DVD distribution, but the Caidin Trust/Caidin Film Company owns the film, I believe. Home video rights are with the UCLA Film and Television archive, theatrical rights are with Fox (from their 1960s remake), so the Criterion is licensed from those sources.

New Line (Warner subsidiary) licensed a few films to Criterion. I wouldn't be shocked if Warners proper did this at some point, although I'm just speculating.

Sort of off topic but I wonder why it is that Criterion have released all of Wes Anderson's films aside from the release of Fantastic Mr. Fox. Not a big deal I guess just sort of curious. I assume that maybe in this case the studio released their version first and maybe Criterion will license it later or something.

They don't seem to have any interest in releasing animated titles but I would guess that Fantastic Mr. Fox could be their first.

Technically, Akira's their first, as they released it on laserdisc.

I took the time to make a list of each title I'm interested in for the sale and ranked them from biggest want to lowest lol

Last year I had a list of 20 titles, I placed an online reservation for all of them and managed to get them all. I'm hoping to repeat the experience.

I read on another forum that the B&N sale is starting on July 10th. Really looking forward to picking up La Haine, Certified Copy and The Gold Rush.

I actually knew that. For some reason, I don't consider the laserdisc Criterion to be the same company as dvd Criterion even though they are.
