I like to think of that one as a prequel to LOST. He's got heroin in that plane!

Children of Paradise and Umberto D are nice - but I'm not sure need to upgrade the DVDs though.

I must be the only one who thinks The Game was just average.

I'm not a big fan either - I think Fincher has made several much better films. I am glad, though, that we'll finally be able to stop predicting it every month.

I've never seen The Game but I'm willing to give it a chance since it's a Fincher film.

No, I was never a big fan of it, either. It's certainly got its fans, though.

Eating Raoul is the one I'm most thrilled about...

I'm most excited about Umberto D. It's my favorite De Sica. The cover art seems like a grab at The Artist but it's fitting.

I actually think Kino's putting the early Kubrick films out...

I have the DVD of "Eating Raoul" and never expected to see it released on Blu-ray especially Criterion Edition

Plus, I'm getting "The Game" also.

Eating Raoul, nice!

I may get everything this round, pretty solid batch of announcements for a change.

I felt disappointed when I saw it in the theater. Never bothered seeing it again. The only film I can think of that I liked by him was Fight Club.
I don't feel much for any of the new films announced. I can save a few bucks for a change.

You'd think with Criterion sitting on The Game for this long, they'd at least create one new featurette - does anyone know if all the extras from the R2 disc/laserdisc have been ported over?

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Can we put together a Criterion release list by date somewhere in this thread? It would be nice to see one comprehensive list of what is coming out and then have the released ones edited off a few weeks after they are released. Or they could be left on there to catch the eye of someone that might have missed their release.

This page on the Criterion website does just that, although it gets rid of the titles as soon as they are released.

http://www.criterion.com/library/exp...s=release_date

This one seems to have the new releases up to three months ago.

Sounds more like a Pialat or Fassbinder film.

Is Letter Never Sent worth a blind buy? It is cheap right now on Amazon and I'm somewhat interested but wanted an opinion or two.

It's visually stunning, if nothing else. And not just in the "it has pretty shots of pretty landscapes" way - it has some amazing, innovative cinematography.

Narratively, on the other hand, it's a pretty basic "man vs. nature" story. It is a Soviet film, and characterization suffers a bit as the filmmakers try to convey the importance of placing national duty over personal interest (in other words, it's not so much about the individuals as it is about the importance that they get their job done.)

I kind of loved it, but I have a high tolerance for films that place a strong emphasis on style.

Also important to point out is that it's one of the $30 SRP titles, meaning it will be even cheaper at the B&N sale in less than a month.
