It is in no way a BAD film...there are quite a few critics who now look on the film as a flawed masterpiece....and I agree with them.

And since Criterion doesn't feel it necessary to include a documentary on the historical impact of the making of this film and it's aftermath, here is a link to Final Cut:

Well, in that case, I look forward to the Criterion editions of Ishtar, Howard The Duck, Jaws: The Revenge, and Battlefield Earth.

The fact that you would group Heaven's Gate with those films pretty much invalidates anything you say on the subject.

Ishtar isn't a terrible film either. It's merely mediocre, with a handful of genuinely funny moments.

(There, I said it.)

Ishtar! What the hell is wrong with you people- it's awesome. It's a rare instance of PG boobs. Something very important to kids who aren't allowed to watch R-rated movies.

Trying to make a point about movies and subjectivity. Which apparently didn't take since you said my subjective opinion was invalid.

Am I the only one pumped about this release?

Going to have to wait for the 1/2 off B&N sale for this release...

Not at all, but I think the fact that the set has been "expected" for so long might take a little of the excitement out of it for some folks. I'm stoked.

That's a tough one...seems to suggest a trilogy, doesn't it? The only single movie I could find that related to three "C"s was Harvey Keitel's "Three Seasons", but that doesn't seem to relate to this graphic!

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

from another forum people seem to think it's a pun...

"It's the Qatsi Trilogy... three caught Cs."

We know that trilogy was coming, so that fits nicely I think

Three "caught" C's:

1. Bear trap
2. Handcuffs
3. Prison

Yes, that's almost certainly it. I'm unfamilar with the films in question.

I had somehow skipped over the pun part of your post. Makes sense!
