Traffic? I didn't see that coming.

Alright, I'm in for that and Gojira.

Love seeing Traffic get updated. What's up with Criterion making Deneuve look like Lady Gaga?

I love it. It's brilliant in its own way - having G facing away from us actually seems more menacing than all of the other monster covers with critters staring us down.

I have bought all of the Criterion Buñuel DVDs. I will buy all of the Criterion Buñuel blu-rays. Seeing the Belle de Jour cover was a definite frisson.

Kind of disappointed that the Gorin set is going to be an Eclipse - since Gorin himself has apparently stated that he helped worked on extras for a box of some of his films, and since by most accounts they are films that could greatly benefit from some contextualizing.

On the other hand, I've really liked the two other Rosi films in the collection, so I'm looking forward to The Moment of Truth. I was kind of hoping that their next Rosi release would be The Mattei Affair, which I've been dying to see for a long time, but I'll definitely check this one out.

Also, Kalat's commentaries for things like the Masters of Cinema "Mabuse" set and the Kino "Fantomas" set are among my favorite commentaries ever, so I'm quite looking forward to hear both of his on the Gojira set.

Still, a little bit of a disappointing announcement - mainly because January tends to be a big month for them (I was hoping for a mainline boxset or something.)

Not that Criterion owes me anything. I'll still pick up all of these except for Traffic.

In for Godzilla and Belle de Jour. I wish that they had the same release day since the last week in January will be a bad time for me to try to watch any blurays.

They're right there on title page. No U.S. cut for Godzilla, that puts to rest some controversy.

That Gojira cover looks great, and I'm very glad both versions are included. This will be the first Criterion I've bought in probably a few years.

(Is Benjamin Button out of print? I need to grab that...)

I like the Godzilla cover...but I don't know if I like the cover for the film itself. I do..and I don't. Maybe cuz it's so different that it irks me. It's not bad..but...I think it alludes to it being something else in terms of action etc. I'm game for it either way.

I'm also game for Belle De Jour and Traffic.

Not that I know of...doesn't seem to be based on what I can see.

this is a very disappointing month IMHO.

Will probably pick up Traffic and the Rosi film at some point but not really interested in much else (unless Belle De Jour absolutely trounces the SC BD).

Godzilla cover doesn't wow me, but it's a solid effort. Not sure why it's titled "Godzilla" though, when "Gojira" is the hero of the disc.

I was literally JUST talking with a friend an hour ago about how I wasn't going to upgrade my Criterion DVD of Traffic to the current BD because of loss of extras. Sweet!

Probably for the same reason the English-language/US-market title is used on the cover of pretty much all Criterion releases.

As for me, I may pick up Belle de Jour at some point. I'm a big Bunuel fan, but sort of hot and cold on that particular flick. Otherwise, nothing excites me this month (though I must admit a degree of ignorance about Rosi's work).

Belle De Jour on Blu-Ray is the best news of the month for me. Anyone have a list of the special featuers included for it?

The Moment of Truth, like their other recent barebones/nearly barebones releases (Identification of a Woman, The Makioka Sisters) is only going to be $29.95, as opposed to the usual $39.95.
