I'd gladly get Down By Law on Blu-Ray. Especially if it came right on time for the July B&N sale...

Since when has Picnic at Hanging Rock been rumored? I've been wanting that on BD for YEARS now, but I thought the only news on it was something Peter Weir mentioned in '07.

No, those are logical, well-informed guesses from a source who has been consistently correct in the past. Seeing how you've never posted in this thread before - come to think of it, I've never even seen you post in this forum before - why don't you do everyone a favor and return to whichever obscure hole you popped your head out of? Thanks!

Putting aside the fact that CriterionCast has been quite reliable in the past, almost all of those titles have been strongly rumored or confirmed by other sources. It's hard to say if they'll all come out this year, but they are all coming.

oh and as much as a Badlands BD would be awesome, the one that really caught my eye from that list was 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, a tremendous film.

If the only thing Criterion released for the rest of the year was a badass BD of Thief, I would be more than content.

Good lord no shit. I had no idea Thief was a potential candidate for Criterion. If any Mann film gets the Criterion treatment, it should be Thief.

What about The Insider? Nominated for seven Oscars, it doesn't even have a SE DVD. Arguably Mann's finest film, boasting one of the last decent Pacino performances. Thief is far likelier though, as it is an MGM property, while Insider is Buena Vista/Touchstone. Bring on the Mill Creek disc!

The Insider is really good, but Thief for me definied Mann's work in terms of how he handles story, look, and feel of his films overall. Insider was remarkably more tame than what we usually get from him. Great story though as well as performances. But I think Thief would make a much better Criterion fit than The Insider.

Besides, I imagine Disney will eventually release The Insider, as Crowe and Pacino are still fairly marketable names. James Caan and Tuesday Weld...not so much.

If you're a Tuesday Weld fan (as I am), then you simply have to see Lord Love a Duck, a strange and hilarious mid-60's satire of organized religion, beach movies, and the then-burgeoning West Coast health craze. Check out this orgasmic, incestous sweater-buying scene:

It's also on Netflix Instant. Kim Morgan talks about it in the excellent documentary, American Grindhouse (also available on Netflix Instant).
