Because of the website glitches yesterday, Criterion will be spending today focusing on that and customer support.
They're delaying the May announcements until tomorrow.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!11!!
Ok, I suppose they have their priorities in the right place - but how am I supposed to wait another day?
Of course, I'm guessing we already know most of the release slate, since it's already pretty sure that Being John Malkovich, The Gold Rush (or some other Chaplin), and Summers with Monika will be part of tomorrow's announcement.

BEST MONTH IN FOREVER! Will be buying all. Can't wait for the Downey Eclipse, I've had shitty bootlegs that I bought in San Francisco 7 years ago.

A pretty good selection, but some (imo) really crappy cover art. Certified Copy and Being John Malkovich look incredibly bad.

Certified Copy looks like a book cover...so I'm guessing that's what they were going for. I don't hate it, but it is pretty plain.

On another forum they've pointed out that it's a "copy" of the cover art of the book written by the male lead in the film. At least that kind of makes sense, even if the execution is still really slipshod - the image is way too literal ("Get it - the people are copied!") and it has a really bland background and fonts. And I kind of doubt that it's going to sell many copies of the film to people who aren't already somewhat familiar with it.

Interesting....I'm wondering if Putney Swope will be movie only, (since this is Eclipse), as Home Vision has already put out a fine edition with extras. Maybe they will make an exception and include them in the Eclipse set.

Awesome month! I still have the La Haine UK Studio Canal Blu-ray but will be happy to upgrade for the features. I'm impressed with the lineup.

Certified Copy looks like a VHS tape from 1984. The clamshell kind. I haven't seen the movie but I kind of like that look. The only Kiarostami I've seen is Where is the Friend's Home, which was pretty good.
But...Being John Malkovich? Really?
And when the hell are we going to get Madadayo, the only Kurosawa film that has not been released separate from the huge box set.

For all my negativity regarding the cover art, I should say that I'm quite excited for several of these, particularly the Bergmans, the Kiarostami, and the Downey Sr. set (though I am a little disappointed that Putney Swope will be a downgrade from the HVE version.)

Can't wait for malkovich, and the cover art is sort of growing on me. At least it's different.

As usual, I'm interested in all the films, particularly the Bergmans this month. However, none of the announcements this year have truly "excited" me since Godzilla & Belle De Jour.

That's a terrible cover for Certified Copy. Very good film though.
