(EDIT: Or what about a BD upgrade of Night Train to Munich? Swiss Alps...)

Btw, where does Criterion post these images? Couldn't find it in their Current.

Correct me if I'm wrong but The Kid and City Lights should surely follow at some point as well?

...although, man! How amazing would a Criterion release of The Eiger Sanction be? I would cheerfully pay Criterion-money for a Blu-ray release if it had commentary by Doc Hammer and Jackson Publick.

Cliffhanger...by Criterion. Yeah..it's not that. Though..wouldn't it be so goddamn badass if Criterion did great BDs of those fucking awesome action films we haven't been given a proper release of on the BD or DVD format? Predator, T1, T2, True Lies, etc. Man...I'd go apeshit if they did T2 and Predator. Granted...I'm just bullshitting w/ an idea that won't ever happen...

Blu-ray.com on Last Temptation of Christ:

Video doesn't appear as bad as some feared.

I wonder if the blurred out frames are still present in the baptism scene... (there's a few spots of full frontal nudity that were smudged out, similar to what they did for luke's speeder in the original ANH)

Got my copy of Godzilla yesterday. Great set - not sure if this was already pointed out - but major fail on Criterion's part for using a Godzilla design from the early '00s for the pop-up. I don't know why they didn't use the suit featured in the original film.

Kind of a fun thing Criterion is doing here at SXSW - they're hiding BD's and DVD's all over town. Only problem is the entire wifi network is drained due to the influx of people here, so it's almost impossible to get a signal to see what the clues are.

We hid a bunch of Blu-rays and DVDs around Austin for #SXSW. Keep up on @foursquare: http://ow.ly/9zW3v

Wifi, 3G, 4G, CB, you name it - it's all hosed within the 5 square miles downtown.

Reminds me of when I lived near downtown LA during the Democratic convention in 2000. My cel phone didn't work for a week, but the phone company denied there was any problem.

Yes, I made a note of this in my review which was published on Sunday.

New Criterion newsletter hint! (sorry can't post from phone) but I really wish it were referring to The Artist.

Umberto D.

Is tomorrow announcement day? If so, here are my guesses:

39 Steps
Shallow Grave
The Gold Rush
Grey Gardens
Weekend
Lonesome

That's probably too many English-language releases though.

Home Theater Forum says that the release date for Harold and Maude has been bumped back to June 12. Apparently no explanation has been offered.

Question: Was that the way it was in theaters? I'm assuming this had to run past Scorsese, no?

According to a few readers, it was not blurred in theaters. Either way, I've already e-mailed John Mulvaney over at Criterion to see if he could shed some light on the situation for me.
