re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
The Sony Eating Raoul DVD is one of the worst ever released. It's riddled with compression artifacts. There are no extras, not even a trailer, though one exists. Worst of all, it was encoded at 720x480 with no anamorpic squeeze, so it didn't look right at 16x9 or 4x3. The only way to view it correctly was if you could force the AR to be 1.5:1, and then the AR and framing (obviously) weren't correct. Sony never bothered to correct this. I know Criterion will do this landmark black comedy proud!

I'll do the same. I usually wait for the B&N sales to pick up my Criterions, but Harold & Maude is one of my all-time favorite films; I don't think I could wait that long for it...

As others have said, it's Y Tu Mama Tambien.

Miramax already has a version on Blu. It leaves off the Criterion supplements (other than the deleted scenes), but it has a bunch of new ones, too.

Yeah, I'm hoping that it's the Samurai Trilogy. I took a look the other week and noticed that those 3, which I've been wanting to see upgraded, were the only Criterions, besides OOPs, from the first 21 titles that haven't been upgraded

Don't get me wrong, I'd love for the Samurai Trilogy to be upgraded, and I'm sure it will be eventually. I just have the feeling that it's for the already announced Three Outlaw Samurai.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
They probably commissioned the drawing a while ago and Three Outlaw Samurai was fast tracked. But it could be the Samurai Trilogy. I was just noticing the other day that of the first thirty spine numbers all the titles are either OOP or have been rereleased; except for Picnic at Hanging Rock, Summertime, and The Samurai Trilogy.
EDIT: I got beat to it. Great minds think alike.

Not bad. I hope more people will come to appreciate the original film for it's serious message (and not just think of the goofy sequels).

I am hoping that the hint's for the Samurai Trilogy. Aside from what others mentioned about it being one of the earliest released that hasn't gotten an upgrade, the picture quality on the dvds is pretty bad and it needs a remastered release.

Yes I really liked that movie too. Had a discussion about it on my film club and even have the Cat Stevens Soundtrack on Vinyl! Can't wait to see what cover Criterion goes for
