Um, was this what you were thinking of?

from The HD Room:

Universal Studios Home Entertainment is dusting off the cobwebs on the live-action Street Figther movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and releasing it on Blu-ray Disc as a new Extreme Edition package on February 10, day-and-date with DVD.

The release date intentionally perfectly coincides with Capcom's street date for Street Figther IV on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. There's no word at this time if Capcom and Universal will team up to offer the pair as a two-pack.

Street Fighter: Extreme Edition on Blu-ray will be presented in widescreen 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio.

Extra features have been expanded upon since the film's first DVD release three years ago including the inclusion of Street Fighter IV goodies. The full list is as follows.

* Street Fighter IV Game Trailer
* Street Fighter IV Game Teaser Trailer
* Street Fighter IV Anime Trailer
* The Making of Street Fighter
* Outtakes
* Deleted Scenes
* Storybord Sequences
* Video Game Sequences
* Cyberwalk
* Archives
* Feature Commentary with Director Steven de Souza
* My Scenes
* BD Live

Street Fighter: Extreme Edition on Blu-ray will retail for $29.98. We'll add high resolution cover art and Amazon pre-order information once available.

I liked 8 Mile and I'll be buying that one.

Street Fighter - not a chance in hell.

From The Digital Bits:

Finally, our industry sources have hinted to us that when Warner delivers The Lord of the Rings films on Blu-ray Disc, some time late next year, they will very likely be the original theatrical versions. But don't freak out and run off to start a petition or something. There's good reason for it: Word is that director Peter Jackson wants to save the Extended Editions for an elaborate and ultimate Blu-ray box set release closer to the debut of the new Hobbit films in theatres. This way, as was the case with the previous DVD releases, you'll eventually get both versions and the best will be saved for last.

Oh Jesus. Street Fighter. A friend of mine have discussed the possibility of renting this for a while (he's a huge Raul Julia fan, I'm a professed masochist for this shit). Might have to check it out.

Why is Universal releasing shit like Street Fighter? Hell, it may not be a classic or something everyone likes, but how about something like The Skulls?

I don't agree with it either, but the studios LOVE tie-in opportunities. With SFIV and SFII HD Remix coming out, there probably won't be a better time in the forseeable future.

Yet do they think the film will actually sell? It was really bad. REALLY BAD. At least Mortal Kombat was at least somewhat decent.

Now that Pretty Woman is set, why not release Erin Brockovich, seems everyone else has it except the US.

I imagine that probably has something to do with it. Warner would probably rack up plenty of sales if they released Mortal Kombat on Blu-ray around the same time.

Some more dates:

DVDreview.com

We just got word that Warner Home Video is preparing a 20th Anniversary Edition of Tim Burton’s Batman on Blu-Ray Disc for release in March.
Jack Nicholson is the Joker, who emerged from a horrible accident as a maniacal criminal. Michael Keaton is the Caped Crusader, who emerged from a childhood trauma to become a masked crimefighter. Kim Basinger is Vicki Vale, the talented photojournalist desired by both men. And Batman is the movie, the all-out spectacular directed by Tim Burton, set to songs by Prince and a music score by Danny Elfman, and an Academy AwardO winner* for Best Art Direction/Set Decoration (Anton Furst and Peter Young).
No exact details or specs have been announced yet, but the release will comes as a 2-disc Digibook version, containing a BD-25 disc for the movie and a separate DVD for the bonus materials.
The release date for “Batman” is tentatively scheduled for March 31, but we’ll keep you informed on any new developments of announcements we’ll hear of.
Tentative: Max Payne = 1/20, Eagle Eye = 12/23

Dead & Buried = 1/27 (I actually like this flick, not great but if you're a fan I'm guessing it's worth it)

This Is Spinal Tap! - New date is 3/17

according to Play.com - Friday the 13th part 2 and 3 = 2/9

Death Trance = 1/27 (Bleh movie)

Just got word that all of the Criterion Blu-rays have been delayed:

The Man Who Fell To Earth, The Chungking Express, Bottle Rocket and The Third Man have all been pushed back to 12/16

The Last Emperor has been pushed back to 1/6

Not sure. I have to wonder though. Wouldn't they have known well in advance on how many BDs they were going to have pressed? or if BD50s were going to be available?

Warner has far more clout pressing discs then any other studio right now - not only for what happened at the start of the year but because TDK is the "it" movie this year. Criterion has released 0 titles so I'm sure they got pushed back until TDK was done. And from the looks of it, TDK will be given away/packed with almost every BD playing device this Holiday season. We already had two other titles delayed yesterday (Henry Poole, This is Spinal Tap), then we had 8 Mile delayed again pushing some of Uni's unannounced releases now into 2009, and a look at the December release list is fairly bleak for what will be Blu-rays first Holiday season without HD DVD.

TDK will be BD's fastest million seller (Iron Man will probably hit 1 Million "officially" sold by the time it arrives) and it should get first spot being pressed - but this only shows that there is still so some issues with the lines. if BD takes off after Christmas will they be able to keep up with demand? Two BD50 titles have already had to be repressed because of issues (Iron Man and Little Big Planet) so that puts even more strain on this season. All my opinions of course.
