Blu-ray release announcements - Part III

Continuing from Blu-ray release announcements - Part II.

As a quick reference for this first post, High Def Digest keeps a pretty up-to-date list of releases on their website.

Damn I was hoping to see Greatest Game Ever Played and Tin Cup on BD, 2 of my favorite golf movies but neither are even listed on the website as a possibility.

I'm praying we get a Lazarus/Speedman/Portnoy commentary of some sort. Getting Cruise to do his character would be a huge bonus.

Spoiler:
I'd kill to see an "in memoriam" feature on Steve Coogan's character. Suffered a hilarious Deep Blue Sea-like death.

You might get Luzarus, but Les isn't showing up.

From blu-ray.com:
Warner UK Line-Up Includes First Four Batman Films
Posted September 29, 2008 12:15 PM by Josh Dreuth

Warner Home Video UK has revealed their Blu-ray line-up for the remainder of the year in the UK. Besides receiving many titles already available in the US, they are also planning on releasing some films which have yet to see Blu-ray release. This includes the first four Batman films - 'Batman', 'Batman Returns', 'Batman Forever', and 'Batman & Robin' - which are all scheduled to be released on December 29th.

Anyone want to take bets how bad the PQ's will be?

I've seen Batman and Batman Returns on HBOHD and they looked pretty good to me. For that matter I thought the 2004 looked very nice for DVD. The masters shouldn't be very old at all, so it's just a matter of the encode I think.

The 2-disc special editions all had DTS, too. Suppose we'll get anything more than DD 5.1 on these?

Well, just remember the poor treatment WB has given the "L.A. Confidential" and "Interview with a Vampire" blu-ray releases.

The UK is also getting a lot of catalog titles besides Batman:

Warner Home Video have already released a couple of UK Blu-ray Disc titles this month not yet mentioned here on DVDTimes. These are The Lost Boys (£22.99 RRP) on 8th September, Cool Hand Luke (£24.99 RRP) with its new Deluxe Edition content and transfer on 15th September and Pushing Daisies Season 1 (£39.99 RRP) on 15th September.

Coming up later this month is one we have mentioned, the US remake of One Missed Call which is out on 29th September. Joining it is Zodiac Director’s Cut (£26.99 RRP) and How the West was Won (£24.99 RRP).

Moving into October you can look forward to Risky Business (25th Anniversary Edition), Beetlejuice, Gremlins and The Goonies on 6th October.

Arriving a week later on 13th October are Poltergeist, Interview with the Vampire and Constantine. Also confirmed are Seasons 6 and 7 of Smallville.

Into November, you’ve got A Perfect Storm, The Omega Man and The Wild Bunch on the 3rd and Supernatural Season 3 on the 10th. Also on the 10th are the previously announced Speed Racer and Band of Brothers (the latter is a HBO/Warner release).

On 17th November there is The Matrix Trilogy (3-Discs, £44.99 RRP) and a separate release of The Animatrix (£19.99 RRP).

Further details are TBC and all dates are subject to change. RRP on catalogue film titles is £19.99 unless noted otherwise. TV and box-set pricing is noted in brackets, with pricing and more details on selected titles available by following the relevant links to separate news stories.

Looking ahead even further (so the usual dates are subject to change etc applies) you can expect to see Fred Claus on 24th November, Get Smart on 1st December, The Dark Knight and Star Wars: The Clone Wars on 8th December, and Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever and Batman & Robin on 29th December.

Gremlins and the Goonies are on my wish list for BD releases here in the states.

"TBC" in the Domino specs wasn't a typo (TBD or TBA being the usual term). In this case it means "too bad, consumers."
