How you watch your film is up to you. I'm not asking questions .If you cannot watch your assigned film for financial reasons (some are rental only) or just really don't want to spend $3 for a shot at winning some Blu-rays, let me know and I'll assign you another film (likely not from the previously-posted list). I cannot legally obligate you to spend money on this and I also ethically won't do it.

P.S. Streaming Platforms are as of August 30th. I don't know what will change in Spetember, but you can always take a look at https://www.justwatch.com/

An amazing list, Chad! For me, a great mix of new titles and ones I'm happy to rewatch.

Thanks for all the work.

I totally missed that this thread was open, I am more than happy to offer subset picks again this year. I will catch up with this thread when I'm done with work.

Awesome to see some of these titles on there. Close Calls is a cool indie with some very cool limited packaging on the blu-ray. Hell High is one of my recent discoveries and there's a great commentary from Joe Bob.

Every time I get a new Dracula Daily email, I get a little bit more enthusiastic about finally watching the 1970 Count Dracula!

Ah, that's disappointing. I only check this subforum for OHC stuff. I didn't think to look as early as July.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 18: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)

I'm happy with the way it turned out. Aside from excluding a couple of films with OOP releases that I feel will have something better coming soon, the one thing I decided against including that I was hoping to was "Martin". I held off after seeing
saying they couldn't secure the rights to get the newly discovered 3½ hour cut for their upcoming release, which I don't think has a date set anyway. It's apparently still up for auction. Hopefully this time next year that version will be available to watch in some way.

I'll also throw out a recommendation for the Close Calls feature length making of doc that
used to be on Prime used to be on Prime
that covers the trouble with some neighbors and police during the production in an Arkansas suburb. It's on the Blu-ray, too.

Also looks like Ronin carried over the Joe Bob commentary from the old DVD on ISOYG.

In light of the subset picks, I will be replacing The Sadness with another Taiwanese film: Mon Mon Mon Monsters.

Glorious on Shudder is a terrific piece of cosmic horror. It stars Ryan Kwanten and J.K. Simmons and is reminiscent of My Dinner With Andre if Andre were a malign Lovecraftian entity.

I was literally just about to ask about that and another question after catching the trailer, so good to hear. I'll reserve it for Cosmic theme day.

Other question: Is the Chucky series worth a watch? I'm always a little leery of anything SyFy these days.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 18: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)

Just a head's that I'll be starting the checklist assembling soon. The new schedule threw me off a bit and I didn't realize the discussion thread deadline is looming. After I work on it a bit, make some very minor finishing touches on the banner, and get the thread up and running, I'll move right to the checklist.

Here's what I have so far on the anniversary section.

Code:
Select 1 from the following anniversaries:
--- 10th Anniversary of Vinegar Syndrome, 2 -
--- 15th Belated Anniversary of TCM Underground -
--- 25th Anniversary of DVD -
--- 25th Anniversary of The Asylum -
--- 40th Anniversary of Joe Bob Briggs -
--- 100th Birthday of Sir Christopher Lee -

I'm going to watch it again for the Cosmic theme because there is a revelation toward the end that I can't discuss (spoilers!), so I need to go back to see what clues I missed. Kwanten and Simmons knock it out of the park.

A heads up for those seeking out the subsets. Night Train To Terror is $12.49 at Vinegar Syndrome this weekend.

I really liked the last 2 Child's Play movies so I had high hopes for the series. And maybe because my expectations were so high I thought the series was pretty bad.

Not much humor and very little action until the last 2 episodes. If you do watch it set your expectations low.

You beat me to it. I just placed my order and was coming here to tell people about it. There are a few more subset films I'd like to purchase or upgrade, even though I probably don't need to be spending any more money right now.

I’m super late to the party this year, but just caught up on the thread and am so excited to participate again this year! The subsets look great!

Thank you Chad for the incredible work you’ve done so far!

The TCM schedule does look great. There are a couple on there I've been trying to find like Carnival of Sinners/la Main du Diable. Unfortunately, we cut our cable ties and I have no way to watch TCM live. Do I want to pay Hulu $69 for one month just to watch some of these? Hum.

TCM has a niche on HBOMax, which costs just $10/month. Carnival of Sinners/La Main du Diable is available through the Internet Archive, but it is in French with no English subs. The only film on the list I can't find on a streaming service is Hiruko the Goblin.
