Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

My 12th challenge was a lot of fun. I think, without checking, that this was my highest total score and lowest percentage of first time viewings for the horror challenge.

I was happy to watch the entire series Kolchak: The Night Stalker with my sons between the med-September start and last month. My favorite first time viewings were The Love Witch, Rare Exports, #Alive, The Innkeepers, In the Mouth of Madness and the shorts The Three Men You Meet at Night and Great Choice. I am going to try to resist the urge to save too many movies for the next challenge because there are always so many interesting possibilities available. I've watched a couple horror comedies this month, and expect to watch some more horror, comic and otherwise, this month.

I went with SterlingBen - a tough call. There's no beating Surfinhank's imagery but I think I appreciate the text reviews, beer thoughts, and wife comments with SterlingBen gave him a sight edge for me. Either way I really appreciate all the detailed and fun lists, I've been combing through them for film recommendations. I liked the idea of going away with 'best list' voting because it's sometimes hard to pick a 'best one.'

I just wanted to say thanks to all of you for the subsets, titles, recommendations, etc. and of course to Chad for everything you do! I watched each movie and stuck to themes each night, but I haven’t been active on here. This October has been an especially challenging one for me. But I’ll get my list updated for the stats!

Thank you so much Chad & Golden Wheels!

I think this is the first big prize I've won through this site since I first joined in 2004!

This really topped off what felt like the best few days I've had in a long time.

That was the other one I considered. But I just enjoyed the magazine style enough to push that one over the top for me.

Thanks Chad for the wonderful job that you did running this challenge. You definitely go above and beyond the call of duty and make this challenge extra special. The same goes for Rich Hamilton of Hamilton Books for their incredible 125 dvd/blu-ray haul that he donated. I also want to thank Joel Morrison of DVD Talk/Internet Brands and the Internet Brands warehouse workers (I can't wait to get my mystery pack #3)! This was a tremendous challenge once again!

Don't forget to thank David Lynch. I actually thought it was Stan Lee.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Thanks Chad for doing what you do. I'm already looking foward to next year.

Congrats to the winners.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Seeing how many people join in on the October Horror Challenge, I wish there was a thread in the Movie Talk Forum where we could just discuss Horror Films that we watch year-round as well.

I remember we used to have an awesome Exploitation & Disturbing Films Thread in the Movie Talk Forum but many of the key members that kept it going have left, or are on other forums.

Congrats to all the winners!

I'm envious of you who snagged a Hamiltonbook prize package! Those were stellar!! If you've never ordered from them - shame on you! They have great stuff, very good prices, superior packaging, and stellar customer service. Just don't sit on the fence too long over an order or what you want may go OOS (they're a close out dealer for most product they stock so things may or may not come back in stock).

Thanks to Chad for running things again!

My goal for this year is to add as few horror titles to my collection as possible so I can watch nothing but favorites next year.

Wow, thank you again Chad and Joel! These challenges are always tons of fun for me so this is just icing on the cake.

I'm already looking forward to next year! There were a lot of great catalog titles released in 2020 so I'm hoping 2021 continues the trend.
