Chad, if you give me a list of subsets that need picking from, I will volunteer. I just don't want to pick things that have like 5-7 choices already.

With the recent release of several related blu-rays, Jim Wynorski might make a good checklist item for director (with 30 titles he might need to be combined).

Yeah, I definitely will. I unfortunately got a little behind on things, and plan to play catch-up during the weekend. I'll post what themes I need more of and who needs to provide more picks as soon as I can.
Got 'em.

Edit: nvm, can read.
Also Phantasm 5 supposedly in theaters on October 7.
And just picked this weird local beer:

The title being a reference to the haunted house ride in the now demolished Tulsa based Bells amusement park.

While I'm working on the subsets feel free to vote for the Criterion and Comedy Crossover picks. It's done by voting since there's no volunteers associated with those days.
Throw out your own picks or vote for something already suggested:

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 12: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
The Final Girls looks interesting for something new. Young Frankenstein and The Frighteners are both older but very good movies, with Young Frankenstein being an absolute classic, must-see if you haven't seen it before. I would vote for the Final Girls as I haven't seen it yet but would vote Frighteners second and Young Frankenstein third (because I have seen it so many times).

I'll throw out some more comedy picks that I can vouch for (although I'm more than happy to watch Young Frankenstein again, especially with Gene Wilder's recent death):
Most of these are available on Amazon Prime to stream for $3.99; Tremors is free on Prime.
- Drag Me to Hell
- Evil Dead II
- Army of Darkness
- Tremors
- Dead Alive
- Piranha 3D
- Slither
- Lake Placid
- Teeth
- Hatchet

Here're some unused Criterion crossover possibilities:
Antichrist
The Blob (1958)
Blood for Dracula (aka Andy Warhol's Dracula)
Corridors of Blood
Cronos
Diabolique
Empire of Passion
Equinox
Fiend Without a Face
Flesh for Frankenstein (aka Andy Warhol's Frankenstein)
The Haunted Strangler
Haxan (aka Witchcraft Through the Ages)
Island of Lost Souls
Jigoku
Kwaidan
The Living Skeleton
Onibaba
Peeping Tom
Scanners
Videodrome
White Dog
There are probably a few that I missed, but I think that we've got plenty to keep us busy without starting to repeat ourselves so soon.

I vote for Corridors of Blood for the Criterion crossover (available on Hulu) and I forgot about Gene Wilder just passing so I change my vote for Comedy crossover to Young Frankenstein.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 12: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
For the Criterion Crossover, I vote for Dressed to Kill (1980). It's available on HBO Go, and for rental/purchase on other streaming services.
For the Comedy Crossover, I vote for The Final Girls (2015). That was a really fun movie. I was planning to watch it again this year. And it's available for rental/purchase on streaming.
I love Young Frankenstein, but I vote against it because it's not available on any streaming service.

Maybe we can move the Frankenstein theme day to Oct 14th or 30th. And that can be the Subset movie. Just an idea.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 12: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
I'm casting my vote for the Criterion Crossover for Island of Lost Souls.
And for the Comedy Crossover, I'm voting for Evil Dead II.
And, because those are optional nights, I don't feel that there's necessarily a need to find a streaming source for them.
Of course, if everything goes to plan and we've got all the subset picks locked in by somewhere around the 16th, we'll all have two weeks to scour our local libraries, thrift stores, and yard sales for movies that we need. Generally, I prefer to use streaming as a last resort; I feel much more secure knowing that I've got a disc ready to pop in the player.
But that's just me.
