I could see each previous year's video on the main page right under Chad's banner.
Yeah, last year's montage is in my signature, and the previous years' videos are also available on my channel. I will try to save some energy to put something together at the end of the challenge. But my personal video would be my priority, and it would probably be a couple of weeks into November before something is ready. If it turns out well it could be good promotion for the challenge. It might also encourage us to go with subset picks that are available in high A/V quality, which is something I'm always hoping for.

It's criminal how few views these have. You do a great job at editing DaveyJoe. Great clip choices, and I swear you must work hard to get the music to sync just perfectly in multiple little moments.

Watching the last two years, particularly 2015 since my memory was fresher, brought me back to those Octobers and got me excited for next month. Thank you once again.

It's not horror but Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has a producer named Speed Weed.

I do think that the categories should be rather broad, and I don't even think it matters if they're already on the Checklist somewhere else. I like the idea of rotating a classic horror star in and out every year, as well as rotating decades and major sub-genres through, but I think that we can play with it a bit to make it work for everybody.
It'll be updated. I was just copying and pasting it directly before making any changes.

And if anyone does have suggestions please share because I'm currently devoid of any.

Okay, I see that we did The Stepfather already. Give me a few moments and I'll find another pick.

Okay, I'm going with one I've heard lots of great things about but have never seen. It's Death Ship from 1980. Hopefully this works out. Love the Embassy cover art!

Chad, here's a ratings checklist section with IMDb links to some of the more obscure ratings. I also think we might as well not combine any.

Watch films with at least 4 different ratings (see links):

--- G -
--- PG -
--- PG-13 -
--- R -
--- NC-17 -
--- X -
--- unrated -

Some more director suggestions. Again, not sure if they have been used in previous years.

Terence Fisher

William Castle

That's another task or three that perhaps one of us can help Chad with in future years. Take charge of the actor, director, and producer sections; building a chart of past uses and years; and spearheading the suggestions and choosing each year in this thread.

Thanks for the kind words. The montages work as my little time capsule for each year's challenge. I go back and watch them to reminisce and relive the experience. It'd be hard for me to remember all of the little gems I've discovered over the years otherwise. Plus, they're just fun to make, but sometimes they cut into my discussion time.

Chad, you might want to make use of the forum's new wiki feature. I'm thinking it might be a good place for a quick and clean list of the theme and subset choices, and the checklist. Having them there at the top of every thread page might save some time for people.

Thank you, sir! Also starring the late great George Kennedy who died earlier this year.

I'll get those subset threads up soon, BTW. They're all ready to go aside from a few link additions.

Now that's an idea, and it's just been implemented^^^. I honestly forgot we even had one.

I haven't seen Death Ship since I was a kid. It was on a local channel one afternoon.

Boooooo! Yeah like it will perform better in the dead of winter than at Halloween time.

Pessimist me thinks:

Wow...it must suck HARD. You know a horror film's bad if it's bumped from an easy-money October release date.

Optimist me thinks:

Wow...it must be REALLY good. You know a horror film's strong when the studio moves it from October to bolster a weak winter schedule.

The truth is probably closer to what pessimist me thinks.

I wonder if it's actually true that horror films perform better in October. Seems obvious, but they seem to release them randomly throughout the year.

The calendar was perfect for me this year. I work full-time, but 12 hour shifts, and sort of a 7 days on 7 days off schedule. I consider the Challenge a 33 day event, wanting to be off the last day of September and first day of November to fully enjoy late night marathons and crossover Challenge potential. Luckily, my schedule cycle has me off the first 7 and last 5 days of the Challenge, with another 9 days off mixed into the middle. I usually take vacation to guarantee enough time off at Challenge beginning and end, but I didn't have to this year.
I think this year I'll try and create the banner I've planned on doing but never starting in the past. Finding a nice background and then adding in something from everything I watch.
My one attempt at ever making a banner was something like 10 equal-sized pictures arranged in rows. I envy those of you with creativity and photo editing smarts.

I'm usually too lazy to do a proper banner. So I just find a creepy picture (either one I took or one online), occasionally tweak the colors or throw an effect or two on it to add mood, then add text that states that it is my challenge. Voilą!!

I love your 2011 banner, might steal it.

Can't make any promises, ut I'm going to try to put a picture up on m list. But if all else ails, at least I put a Halloween theme in my list title.

Ha! I was extremely busy (or lazy) that year. Steal away.

I occasionally still use it as a placeholder when the list thread first goes up.
