Has anyone seen the briefcase version at Columbia House? It looks different, and not quite as cool...more vertical than the normal briefcase (maybe the photo is just REALLY compressed)...I'm wondering if more than one version exists? Or if they just have a wrong photo up?

When I did it before it took about 25-30 minutes. It was really quick although this was a few months back. I'm not sure how it is around the holiday season.

For those wanting to buy the 5-disc set without the briefcase I would note that the Digipak included inside the briefcase has the UPC on the back. I would be far from surprised if after the limited 103000 copies of the briefcase sell out that the digipak would be released on its own.

He did say that he heard that the Best Buy at the Tustin Marketplace got a few HD, Blu Ray, and Standard DVD briefcases, just FYI.
The South Coast Plaza BB had about 10 copies of the SD briefcase and about 5 each of the HD and BR, and plenty of the non-case versions of each - this was at around 10am this morning. It was painful passing it up, since I'm waiting for my HD discs from amazon. I kept telling myself that the $15 I save will buy me a good meal...

I guess I could buy it at BB now, and use the receipt to return the amazon copy when it gets here. But who wants to sit in that return-line this time of year?

I did not see any briefcase sets at Best Buy or Future Shop (though that might be because they either didn't put them out yet or they sold out early).
Went to two (Canadian) Future Shops mid-day today looking for something else, and noticed both locations had at least 10 of each of these box sets on the floors, along with plenty of the other sets. Weren't exactly flying off the shelves, but it was early. $65 for the regular, $79 for the others. An employee at one store had a set open at the checkout for some reason, so I asked for a peak. Those toys are kinda cheap, and there's a heck of a lot of foam in the box. The non-suitcase hi-definition sets are exercises in packaging efficiency compared to virtually all the other versions.

Good info. Even though I don't have HD or Blu Ray, I was considering buying all three. This is one of my favorite movies of all time, and probably my very favorite if I was pressed to choose. Definitely in my top 3. I'm particularly fond of the original US Theatrical Release, and happy to finally have that on DVD.

Slop, if I were you, I'd have ate the $15, get it today so there are no snags or screw ups to get in my way, and send the Amazon back. The $15 is a nice savings, but with my mindset and particular fondness for this film, its money I can do without.

Although, $15 savings is a nice burger over at The Counter. Tried that yet? New shopping center at the corner of Irvine Blvd. and Sand Canyon Avenue. Gourmet, made to order burgers. Absolutely fantastic. I know you live close to me, go try it neighbor, if you haven't already.

Worst case scenario: they are about $75 Buy it Now on eBay. So nobody needs to get their panties in a bind just yet.

I see BB just jacked they're prices up for it online. Instead of it being $70 it's now $80 supply and demand gotta love it.

Picked up the SD Briefcase at the Murfreesboro Best Buy for a little over $60. Don't think they had any left though(and the Best Buy website confirms that). When I first went in, I looked everywhere, but couldn't find a single briefcase until I saw another guy carrying one from the back dvd aisle and I investigated and discovered two employees looking over one of the briefcases. They gave me that one. They must have not put them out because I didn't see a spot where they were supposed to be.

It is bigger than I thought it would be.

For the Columbia House question, I saw that same picture online. I think the picture is just compressed to fit a picture frame format. Did you order a copy from there? I have one on order, ordered it 11.6 but as of Tuesday at 2pm, it still says preorder. Anyone else hear anything from Columbia House, I don't want to miss out on grabbing the briefcase...thinking about going to BB and just returning the order, or calling and canceling.

At the BB I got mine at, they didn't have a designated spot or display for the briefcases. In fact, to my surprise (and delight) they were not even with the new releases. They were sitting on the floor under an endcap for Children's DVDs. I would have never found them there. The clerk had to show me where they were. Had they been easier to find, I may have had to drive around in search of one of these.

Plow: Nice job on the low serial number.

The briefcases are $78 at the local FS. They're going fast.

No 4-disks in stock there. I'll have to find them elsewhere.

I'm going to wait for Boxing Day sales - I'm hoping that the players will be good price that day.

Thanks! I'm pretty close to that (Irvine/Culver) and I loves me a good burger. I'll have to check it out, especially now that I have $15 burning a hole in my pocket

Ugh, watch out for floaters with these. I just got the Blu-ray (non-briefcase) and discs one and two were floating. No scratches, thankfully. Also, the booklet inside was bent in half.

Report from Chicago:

Picked up the only 4-disc (that I could find) from Borders (Clark/Diversey) with the 40% off coupon and it came to 20.99, but they had a couple of 2-discs and one HD-DVD briefcase. That's it.

The Best Buy right down the street didn't seem to have any HD or Blu briefcases but had tons of SD briefcases- maybe 6 or 7 in the sci-fi section and another 4 or 5 stacked up on some Playstation 2's (random, I guess they ran out of space and just stuck them there). The New Releases section only had the 2 and 4 disc versions along with the non-briefcase HD... didn't notice if they had non-briefcase Blu's.

So what are my chances of ordering it on amazon and receiving it on or around the 24th as it states? I just talked to a customer service guy must have been from india or somewhere out there. He said it's in stock but expect delays lol. Then why mark it as being in stock.

Amazon is the cheapest i've seen for the blu-ray case so it's the best way to go it's just a concern as the shipping date.

Do you want me to get you one? Where I live there are plenty of places to find this set. Let me know if interested I'll see what I can do.

I'm also curious if anyone picked up the blu-ray briefcase. I'm sure someone got they're hands on it. I was just wondering what the dvd cover is. Is it the gunmetal look? Also is it the regular size as a blu-ray case or is it slightly larger? Thanks

Ouch, $79.99? My Future Shop had loads of everything - SD, HDVD and Blu-Ray. The standard set I bought was $64.99!
