No email about any delays. However it actually hasn't shipped yet according to the information on the web site.

Does anyone know if this is a question of Warner not making them fast enough, or that because they are in limited quantity they are just being sold out too fast?

Blade Runner 4 Disc Collector's Edition

Does anyone know if the "4 Disc Collector's Edition" DVD set is a limited edition release or is it just the briefcase sets that got the "limited edition" release?

I ask this because I don't have any plans to pick up the briefcase set having already bought the remastered version of the director’s cut last year when WB released that as a standard 1 disc limited edition DVD (now oop) and it's better for me financially to get the 4 disc DVD set.

I'm hoping the 4 disc DVD set is still available in a few weeks from now and was excluded from the “limited edition” releases and designed to be in print for a while.

No, the 4-disk set is not limited edition.

Found this on the Digital Bits:

While we're talking Warner, be aware that a few readers are reporting that some copies of the 5-disc Blade Runner set mistakenly include two copies of Disc One instead of a Disc One and a Disc Five (the Workprint version). Be sure to check your copies after you purchase them. Readers are also reporting difficulty locating copies of the Blade Runner set in various versions at different retailers, we suspect due to Warner's recent distribution system issues. If you're having trouble finding, be patient. The discs are coming, and they're worth the wait.

I knew something was up because CC and BB didn't receive ANY blu-ray copies. Who knows when they'll come in . At least I've got my contingency plan lined up with amazon. Still says "shipping soon"

*Best Buy had the briefcase on their site 2 days ago. It is now completely gone and most other titles say back ordered. So WB probably messed up yet again.

I recieved my shipment confirmation from Best Buy that the Blu-ray Briefcase went out this morning.

Based on the Digital Bits story, I think THIS is the reason none of the stores had the Blu-ray Briefcase in stock. WHV probably figured better to delay the release by a few days, get the correct discs in the cases, THEN get them out. Fine by me. I had to wait quite a while last year to get my correct discs from the "Superman Ultimate DVD Set" blunder. I just KNEW something like this was going to happen this year. Last year's blunder was too huge to dismiss, tarnishing WHV's reputation. I expect them to f--- up now.

Still, on Tuesday when I saw no Blu-ray briefcases, I panicked and bought the standard DVD Briefcase, and the 5 disc Blu-ray set. I figured if the stores weren't getting the Blu-ray Briefcase I would improvise and make my own then. They are both unopened since I still ordered the Blu-ray Briefcase from Best Buy, and figured I can return the other two once I have it in my hands. Now I am thinking I may keep the standard DVD Briefcase, unopened, and see what happens downt the road.

Does anyone know if this is happening with just the Blu-ray / HD-DVD 5-disc set and Briefcase, or just the standard DVD Briefcase?

The way the blurb reads, it seems like it is on all of them...however I cannot confirm this.

So far the only reports of incorrect discs are in Canada.

As someone else has posted in the HD Talk forum, this at least seems to be the case with the Blu-Ray 5-disc.

Well my Amazon order has entered the Shipping Soon phase, hopefully that's a good sign. The estimate has always been the 24th for shipment, so fingers crossed.

Over on AVS in the bluray software board. It may have changed by now since I haven't checked it today, but last night there were 5 or so posters who said they had the problem and they were all from Canada. All the US posters had no problems with theirs.

Looks like every single Best Buy in my area is now completely sold out of the briefcase. If you didn't pick it up on Tuesday, I guess your shit out of luck.

Almost makes me wish I had picked one up on Tuesday as well, but I just can't justify an extra $50, especially when there are no additional discs (for the HD-DVD) in the briefcase set.
