I'm going to give BB a call tomorrow and see what's going on with the briefcase. No point in making the trip if they won't have them in stock. Anyone confirm that walmart will have the blu-ray case? I doubt they'd stock an item like that.

I put in a preorder for the five disc set back in August from Amazon, and then I ordered the four disc as a gift in October. The four disc set shipped out yesterday. The five disc SD briefcase says that it will ship on the 23rd. When I called Amazon on this, they said that they were not sure of the exact date of arrival for the five disc briefcase, hence the ship date of the 23rd on my account.
I do have to say that I am dissapointed, but I am glad that the four disc was shipped.

My pre-order still says it'll ship tomorrow. I guess I'll see what happens tomorrow.

I understand the frustration but I don't see the logic in blaming Amazon.
They had a ton of pre-orders with good pricing and taking orders back in July ... I'm pretty darn sure that Amazon communicated their orders to Warner Home Video.
Yet people post about getting their orders from a smaller on-line merchant or tell us that a B&M will have it. The smaller merchants didn't have a ton of pre-orders and the B&M are getting preferential treatment by WHV.
Clearly, Warner's screwed Amazon which got a huge number of pre-orders. Clearly Warner is taking care of their large B&M customers before caring about meeting the needs of Amazon and the people that shop there.
So my question is why couldn't WHV meet the needs of all concerned? Amazon may not be perfect but if they have the product they sure can ship it out. To my view, logically it falls on Warner's shoulders.

Amazon has impeccable customer service and I've never had any issue with their "inventory stock" being incorrect on any other title in years of purchases. Amazon probably sold a ton more of these sets than any other retailer just because of their excellent service and great price. Warners dropped the ball by not realizing (big duh!) that this briefcase set would sell through the roof and didn't have enough ready in time to satisfy demand. I also expect most B&M retailers didn't order enough and will be sold out within a day.
I pre-ordered the SD 5-disc set from Amazon in September. This morning, it showed no inkling of being shipped or processed. Tonight, it shows it's being processed and will ship soon, with an estimated delivery by the 28th or so, and that I cannot change or cancel the order now. I am happy as usual with Amazon's service.

The store where I work at got everything in. The regular blu-ray, the case, and the case in regular dvd. We were warned a month or so ago that if a customer did not pre-order the limited edition version we would not get it in stock as they are going to be scarce.

I ordered the HD Briefcase on December 8th, and have a shipping estimate of Dec. 24th. I had pre-ordered the SD case back in July, but when I upgraded to HD, I canceled it. I was wondering why I didn't get a shipping notice over the weekend as all my pre-orders from Amazon ship on the Saturday before release.
So now I have to sit and wait, hoping that I get what I ordered.

From: Sydney / Australia !!!
just adding my 2cents - shipped to Australia for the SD version - website says 17th - pre-ordered from mid August.
As for Australia - I noticed at JB HiFi that the Briefcase set had the limited edition number on the front side - if I can recall it was something like 4000 for Australia (will confirm). How many for the U.S ??

A few million for the US. Kinda takes the "I got sumtin' special, baby!" out of the phrase "Collector's Edition" don't it.

I haven't gotten a shipping or delay e-mail yet, however, the shipping status page says "Item not yet shipped. Delivery estimate: December 14, 2007 - December 20, 2007"
So I'm not sure if I'm safe, or if mine was delayed and they just haven't gotten around to letting me know that yet.

Naturally, I pre-ordered mine back in August. I was the only one to do so, and as a result, we got 2 shipped to the store. I work tomorrow, so whoever closed tonight better have held one back for me.

I'm seriously debating keeping the briefcase as a collectible unopened, whenever the hell it arrives, and buying the 4-disc version for my viewing pleasure.
Delaying my shipment until next week is frustrating.

Blade Runner Briefcase At Border's?
Does anyone know how limited in supply Border's Books will be with the new Ultimate Blade Runner Briefcase for standard DVD players? I called yesterday and they said that they were not receiving the special box sets until tomorrow, Wednesday, the 19th. On top of that, the sales rep also explained to me that they usually do not receive very many "special" box set items such as the Blade Runner Set. I was wondering if any of you are privy to this information and if you are also planning on purchasing yours at Border's. I have already pre-ordered a set on Amazon, but Border's is offering a 40% off coupon on all DVD box sets for both today and tomorrow, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity.

I just checked BB, CC and Target. Well I called first before making the hour long trip. BB only had the HD Breifcase no bluray. Target and CC didn't have any briefcases as well. Blah
*EDIT Borders had 1 briefcase on the way no estimated arrival date for the great price of $99.99. And of course amazon is all out of stock supposedly. There must have been a shitload of pre-orders. Ohh well I should have ordered this in June like everyone else did.
Anyone who does pick it up can you give us a feedback on the case? Is it really worth the extra $30. Is it a cheesy looking thing like the transformers transforming case or is it a good bang for the buck?
