well I wish you would separate into folders, but oh well.

You have a strong collection, but naturally have more than your fair share of duds because of the overall amount you have. A lot of variety, some good box sets....you own much of what I do.

I guess my only suggestion is that you make the switch to HD!

Really Nice collection. A lot of titles, there is a movie for every taste there. There is Citizen Kane, Clerks, Futurama, Clockwork Orange, One Flew over the Cucko's Nest.... Crossroads. If anything I would add some Foreign Films
Also I recommend 24.

You have a solid start to your collection. I'm also a student as well but I look for deals so I can get blu rays and special editions, and you should do the same. The quality of the movies you have are good, they just need to be upgraded sometime.

I don't know your taste and don't watch it now because i'm mentioning it, but I guarantee that there will never be a time in your lifetime again that you will have the urge to put your RINGMASTER dvd into your DVD player and sit through that whole movie again. Throw it away or give it away or sell it.

The movie has some funny bits, but every time i've tried to watch it in the past 10 years I fell asleep 15 minutes in.

WOW! I'd forgotten that this thread existed, cool that you found it and brought it back to life.

You can view my collection through 2 of the links in my signature. The 3rd link (the 2nd one to my collection) is new. It will take you a while to go through it this way though.

It's good but it can be clleaned up a little. Those American Pies sequels, Aeonflux, Avril Lavigne?, High School Musical? Fool's Gold (not even my gf liked that one), 2 Fast 2 Furious (at least own Tokyo Drift which is far superior). There is not too many old movies or foreign films either.
Its cool you own 24, Arrested Development, Battlestar Galactica, Miyasaki flims, Dragonball, Futurama, X-Files.

Here it is......
What is it with people owning American Pie sequels? Anyways since your collection is not as huge as others and you do have some variety i assume every title there is one you really like.
You have some great oldies such as Grand Hotel, Gone with the Wind, Guess Who is Coming to Dinner, Mr Smith goes to Washington, Its a Wonderful Life. B+

Re: Rate My DVD Collection

This forum is pretty weird. It's all in the eye of the beholder. Some people might love a collection while other might hate it. As long as you are happy with your collection that is all that matters. So this goes out to everyone. If you love your collection then it is an A+!

I'm not usually impressed with DVD collections that are just NTSC Region 1 DVDs, but I like the fact that most of the NTSC Region 1 dvds you have are actual good movies. And not only good movies, but good movies that are very re-watchable. There are some movies that are very good, but don't have much rewatchable value to them. And a lot of people's collections have good films in there, but for every good film in a collection, there's also a bad one. So, that's what I like about yours - you seem to have a good sense of self control, and not buy every film that's just okay.

Re: Rate My DVD Collection

What do you all think of mine? I have been collecting for almost 10 years now. Nearly to 1,000! I haven't bought near as many in the last couple of years though, except Blu-Ray. I watched Gone With the Wind the first time the other day and I have decided that I want to start getting into a bunch of the older films. And so, do you guys think that it is worth waiting for a lot of them to come out on Blu-Ray or should I just go witht he current DVD releases? Thanks!

Hey thanks! That's pretty much what I go for. Good movies I can watch over and over again. I'm not a completist and I never buy DVDs just for the sake of buying them. They have to have some sort of meaning to me. That keeps out a lot of flab.

Even the blatantly bad movies I own (Action Jackson, Doctor Detroit, Death Wish and Lethal Weapon series), they have some sort of nostalgia value for me.

Well you have a lot of anime and family-oriented animated movies which I have to admit I have no interest in. (BTW, you have the Last Samurai and the Baz Luhrmann boxed set filed under animation)

Otherwise, you have quite an unpredictable mix of cool stuff (Akira Kurosawa, Tarantino, Coen Brothers, Se7en, Das Boot) with occasional utterly disposable fluff (Snakes On a Plane, Robin Hood Men in Tights? really??)

Your devotion to the TV show How I Met Your Mother is baffling to me, but at least you're also devoted to Monty Python

I can't fault you your personal taste, of course, you like what you like. In your case, that is mostly anime, comedy and sci-fi/fantasy.

To be honest, your collection is kind of too mainstream and unchallenging for me. Your movie choices seem like comfort food, lots and lots of escapism. But hey, if that gives you pleasure...

Re: Rate My DVD Collection

I don't have a link to terrible chong's collection, but rating theguyoverthere's, I think it's pretty good (I do like Anime, Sci-Fi, stupid comedies, etc.. - Unlike TC though, I can't stand Monty Python)

While not a huge non-anime collection, you do have some good stuff in there (and some of the stupid movies.. but I have/like them also, so no problems from me )

Your BD collection is good also - some movies that really take advantage of the format in there. For what you have, I think it's a decent collection
