I just receieved a response from returnwarehouse.com about whether or not my DVD shipped. Although short, it was to the point: "This item has shipped." I also noticed that the UPC listed is the same one listed by DVD Profiler (if that means anything to anyone). Now the waiting game begins. I really hope all of us who ordered from them are indeed lucky enough to get our copies. Except those who bought only with the intention of reselling. Sorry, but I do hope your copies get lost in the mail.
This was my last hope, so if it falls through, I'm shit out of luck.

I've got a buddy out there looking for it. Short of him getting lucky, I'm just gonna sit back and see how this shakes out. I love the movie and would love to own it (although I do have a VHS copy off a laser disc), but eBay prices will have to come down a lot before I would go that route and the disc will probably be released at some point anyway, with or without the deleted scene. I'm not losing sleep over this.

I just about had a heart attack when I read the email Deep Discount DVD just sent me. It said that "Ed Wood" shipped today and that I should receive it between 2/3 - 2/8. Had shipping number and everything.
The title is unavailable on their site for ordering. Do you think they would stop the shipment by calling it back? I hope not. My only other hope is fading fast, as a previous poster stated that Suncoast just apparently got their recall notice this morning. That is where I pre-ordered mine last Monday and paid for it in full.
By the way, Amazon.com is NOT listing this as a release date of 4/4/04 as a previous poster stated. They are, however, showing the release date as January 1, 2010. I kid you not. I almost shot water through my nose when I saw that.

Amazon.com always shows a 1/1/2010 date on titles that have no release date.
Amazon.CA, their Canadian site, is showing it as 4/4/2004.

Edited entry: The great onebyone Ed Wood sale has ended for now. I am waiting to hear back from a few people so those dvds are still reserved.

To reply to Dlbsyst and Cornelius1047 from a few pages back...sorry about the delay gentlemen... they are currently held in the back that the BB Irving location. I suppose there is a small chance they wont make it to the floor... but I am hoping, what with a non-overwhelming number of copies.....

Score. I've now found 4 in my local area. 2 at Spec's and 1 a piece at 2 of the 9 Blockbusters I visited. Good thing BBV's everywhere. Unfortunately, all are spoken for. Just want to give a heads up to anyone who might be checking a Blockbuster. 1 store had the DVD up on the shelf displayed with the rest of them, and the other I found it at had it mixed in with a bunch of other random titles spines facing outward below the display rack... it wasn't anywhere near the E section. So if you really want the DVD, be thorough about it. If you see seemingly extra miscellaneous DVDs below the display stand, check them. You might get lucky.

I managed to get two copies tonight ($18.99 each after my discount) and sold one to a friend at cost. Part of me had thoughts about tossing one or even both on Ebay, but nah. I'd rather have the movie and be happy with it.

Man, I really do hope returnwarehouse comes through, as I'm sure we won't get the supposed 49 copies we have on order into the store. And even if we do, I have a feeling the listing on our systems will revert back to "Deleted" and all copies will be sent back. I wonder if I'd get fired for grabbing one and buying it. I don't know. We'll see how it goes.

Me too Cornelius. He said it would ship out on the 30th. I got a notice saying it shipped. I can only assume its on the way to my house right now. And if its not. If he pulls a DVDLegacy. That. Is. IT!

I didn't feel like looking through the 20+ pages of this thread to see if anyone else has mentioned this but... I just bought a copy from a person in the military and they got copies at their base store overseas. So... if any of you have friends or relatives in the service you might have them check out their base stores and see if they can score you a copy. Hope this helps.

It may just be the overseas bases. There are plenty of local bases here and I haven't seen a copy yet in any B/X, P/X. They usually don't break the street date here though either so maybe they have some in the back.
Speaking of which, checked out Borders and they still have it listed. The guy told me it would be out Tuesday. I have a feeling no store in Hawaii has heard about the recall since none have mentioned it and are all still showing the street date as Tuesday. I guess I just have to wait and see what happens.

Oohh....... This thread is dying.
I've sorted it out in my mind. After reading a great MANY posts, here and elsewhere, the most logical explanation is that there is a legal rights issue with something in the deleted scenes. As someone mentioned here, possibly Bill Murray's song.
This means that while these copies that are getting out now may become collector's items, the DVD WILL be released without the footage. Maybe in six months or longer, but it WILL be released.
So, I'll probably check some stores myself between now and tuesday, but if I have to wait, fine. And the bidders on eBay paying outrageous amounts of money for what will amount to a few minutes of deleted material, well you know what they say about a fool and his (or her) money.

A few days ago this was going for around $150 on eBay. Now it's going for $60-70. Expect by Tuesday to be able to get a copy for $30-40, which is almost MSRP.
They are recalling the disc for whatever legal issues there are, but SO MANY of these have been sold despite the recall that it seems likely that they won't be worth too much.
Supply will catch up with demand.
So if you plan on selling a copy to make a profit, now's your best shot.
A month from now no one will care and there'll be other new discs to buy.

Rights / Easter eggs
Hi. Just wanted to pass along a couple of things.
-Is the song "Que Sera Sera" actually used in the film? I don't recall it being used despite being in the credits. If it wasn't, I bet that the deleted scene w/ Bill Murray singing it is the cause of the recall.
-Speaking of deleted scenes (and that song!), has anyone else found the easter egg? Go to the "Deleted Scenes" menu and put the icon over "Que Sera Sera". Click to the right twice and you should see a lightning bolt appear. Click it and you'll get a two minute scene showing how Ed came up with Dr. Acula.

Also, I am glad I could help anybody with the Half.com (returnwherehouse) seller. Although I am sure someone would have said something anyway.

I'm on the west coast, but I did choose the more exspensive "expidited shipping" from Returnwarehouse so hopefully that means it will get here sooner than later (though for some reason he waited days to ship it. Shipped it on Friday when he had my payment since like Tuesday.)

I saw this somewhere regarding an email from an online etailer in responding to Ed Wood and its release date on 2-3:
"We have not heard of any delays yet. Please check back next week for another update if you wish. Thank you and have a nice day."
Sounds promising.
