Whatever will be will be...

That's my philosophy!

I'm going on another hunt today. It's my day off and I've nothing better to do. Wish me luck!

I called 2 local Blockbuster Video locations today. One location said they had 3 in stock but could not put them out until Tuesday.
Called another location - they typed in Ed Wood and said it was cancelled in August of 2002. I asked them to try Ed Wood Special Edition. Sure enough, not only did it come up as available, they claimed to have one out already for sale. I asked the clerk to check if was still there - she did - and 15 minutes later I bought it. I think that other Blockbuster locations must have this title either ready to go on Tuesday or may already have it in store for sale. I'd be curious to know how many of you will try the same thing I did and score a copy. I wouldn't be surprised if by Tuesday the disc will be easy to find with a little bit of homework.

I found a copy last night at a BlockBuster also. I called around this morning and found one more and was told by another store that they had on hand but couldn't sell me them until Tuesday but could take my name and hold them. I told a fellow forum member that one was his so I should have an extra for trade.

Well, I've just used a $50 BIN for a copy, so the prices are becoming a little more sane.

Even if this movie comes out on Tuesday, paying a $20 premium for the movie isn't that big of a deal. I've paid $40 for Criterion movies that I only had a marginal amount of interest in. Paying $50 for "Ed Wood" is worth it, given how much I like the movie and how f@$(@)# long I've waited for it on dvd.

Thank God for the incompetence of my local Blockbuster. I walked in yesterday to find mispriced copies of both Ed Wood and Capturing the Freidmans. I picked up both movies for $14.99 apiece.

I also have 2 copies of Ed Wood on reserve at my local Sam Goody, and a single copy reserved at my local Suncoast. With moderate luck, it looks like I'll have some copies to use as trade bait come Tuesday...

I think that Deep Discount DVD only pulled the listing from their database, but somehow did not "cancel" any of the existing order files. Their system automatically billed and notified customers that their order had shipped. Only to send out a "new" order notificiation for Ed Wood with a "negative" charge.

I assume this is their method of refunding the automatic charge against the credit card and quietly cancelling the order (which wasn't available to ship due to the recall).

I just about had a heart attack when I read the email Deep Discount DVD just sent me. It said that "Ed Wood" shipped today and that I should receive it between 2/3 - 2/8. Had shipping number and everything.

The title is unavailable on their site for ordering. Do you think they would stop the shipment by calling it back? I hope not. My only other hope is fading fast, as a previous poster stated that Suncoast just apparently got their recall notice this morning. That is where I pre-ordered mine last Monday and paid for it in full.

Oh thank you so much. I have been all over the disc looking for easter eggs. However, since I am the WORST EVER at finding those things, I didn't find a darn thing. I am off to watch this now.

Yeah, I received the negative charge not to long ago. For a second there, I thought they would be shipping me a second disc. Damn! Now I'm depressed. Yet another avenue closed off.

I snagged one at my local BB for $29.99 (!). The manger said "This isn't supposed to be out till Tuesday, but here ya go!"

Needless to say, I said nothing, paid, and split

I don't know if it's still listed as 'Active' at my store's system, but chances are, even if it is, the 49 we have on order won't show up, as we're so close to its release date. I have a feeling I won't find any copies of this in any stores around me. Doesn't mean I won't try though.

Well i'm going to have to thank the people that said they found it at blockbuster, but i slightly tweeked the way in which to get it. Rather than go to every blockbuster to see if they had it, i simply started calling them. Went to blockbuster.com put in my zip code and started the ones closest to me. On the second call I found it. Now I'm home and its in my hands. WOOHOOO!!!!!

By the time they get around to actually officially releasing this, in whatever form, the market is going to be kind of flat. The core fans are all going to either a. be region free or b. have this sweet edition. I know lots of folks with it and no one is having any problems at all watching it. I REALLY want to know what seemingly BS reason they recalled it for.

I got mine at Blockbuster also. This is driving me crazy though, I really want to open it and watch it tonight, I don't even think I've seen the whole movie all the way through, but I want to wait to see what happens on Tuesday. See if anything is actually announced regarding this whole thing. Ah crap, I'm too weak, I'll probably tear it open in a minute here.

Looks like CC wont be getting any, they have a notice at the door posted, and since most stores dont get non-blockbuster releases till monday, unlikely for any to get shipped there either...also got the FYE email, so ill be at Suncoast or Blockbuster on tuesday.

The mariachi band does play Que Sera Sera during the wrap party scene, but nobody sings the song.

This leads to my theory. They probably cleared the melody but not the lyrics resulting in a miscommunication that was recently discovered. It's doubtful that any studio would want to pay additional clearance money just for a deleted scene.

It's too bad too, because the deleted scenes on this DVD are pretty good.

If you haven't figured out that your local BlockBuster is the best place to start....

Hopped over to one not 1/2 mile from me...had one in stock (behind "Edward Scissorhands" (!) of all things)...$29.99 is a small price to pay, but I'm quite sure come Tuesday this won't be very hard to find....a friend at a nearby MediaPlay counted 15 in the back-storeroom....

Hmm, I'll have to stop at Blockbuster Monday night after class. There's only one Blockbuster in town, but who knows?

MovieGuy26: Two fantastic movies, good choices...

I'm kinda getting bitter at this point. I'm glad that so many people that actually like/love the movie are getting it, but I feel like I'm not getting any closer to this. It seems like most of the places around me that people are suggesting are already out of the loop. Perhaps I'm pessimistic by nature, but it doesn't look good. I'll wait till Tuesday before I start pulling my hair out though. Maybe it will find its way into my clutches. All the Blockbusters around here were a bust. None of them even carry it. Also, I was just thinking, if returnwarehouse.com did ship my copy, how come I haven't been charged for it yet? I'm probably one of the most unlucky guys in the world and I fear I'll be the only one left without one. Or at least the last to get it... if... I... do.

But... for those of you lucky punks who did get it and haven't open it yet... OPEN IT AND WATCH IT!! Let me live vicariously through y'all.
