I found out that Gettysburg/Gods and Generals set is part of a week long "welcome-summer" sale. I noticed the sale yesterday but the link wasn't working when I tried to check it out. I ended up getting routed over to a book sale. Anyway here is the now working link to the sale with some other blu-ray titles that are up to 50% off. Unfortunately they don't look like they will combine with the b2gif sale.

I finally took the plunge and went for the trial membership. Figured why not with the Criterion sale rumored to be starting soon. My AAA discount that gives me an additional 10% off online has been working up to now, but who knows when they might put an end to that too.
Plus I have a store on the way to work that seems to carry a lot of CC titles.
If I no likey the membership, I'll just cancel before the two months are up.

Also I should mention I have the AAA coupon code posted on the first page that saves the hassle of going to their web site, and you can use the coupon in conjunction with one of many cashback web sites to save additional money.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
The AAA discount might not work with the upcoming Criterion sale because they changed it to a coupon discount earlier in the year. Before it was a link that generated a promotional discount that was different than a coupon. The last several B&N Criterion sales have not allowed coupons for the online sale.
So it looks like this membership might come in handy after all. Thanks for the tips.

Over the last year to year and a half, I've attempted to use various coupons with the AAA discount at B&N but could never find any that worked. I figured B&N has set things up so the AAA discount wouldn't stack with the coupons.
It's still a handy discount option to have since it deducts from the overall purchase price whereas most coupons only apply to a single item.

I had a suspicion they might do this for AAA. I know the coupon codes have a been a no-go for the sales for a while. I remember getting an order in just under the wire during a previous Criterion sale when they canned the coupons.
So it looks like this membership might come in handy after all. Thanks for the tips.

The membership should come in handy if you purchase at a store since you should still get at least a 10% discount. Hopefully there will be a decent supply of 15% to 20% store coupons around as well for the sale since the $5 DVD coupons were eliminated.

I used to stack coupons with the AAA discount back when they allowed it.

I'm gonna see if I can use both a 20% coupon and a 15% coupon in-store, combined with the B2G1F sale. That could be worthwhile, especially if I find some titles already discounted in-store.

Sorry, but I can't find the AAA code and even on the AAA site I can't find an active link, even when in my account. Maybe I'm having a bad morning...

You can always find it on the first page of this thread. I don't label it as the AAA code since anyone can use it. Use code H3U4M7L to save 10% off your order on all eligible items.

They actually have some good prices online for BD versions of Man Who Would be King, Sucker Punch, Louis Season 1, Another Year, 61, Outlaw Josie Wales, 13 Assassins, Madagascar (Earth series). I think they are part of 50 percent off sale.

Anybody know if B&N goes up as soon as a title is no longer a pre-order? Just wondering how quick it happens so as to maybe slip a coupon in.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
If you live in California starting July 1 sales tax is now 1% less. I just checked the B&N web site and they already have reduced the sales tax from 8.75% to 7.75% tonight.
It's part of a welcome summer sale they are running. There are about 130 blu-ray titles listed. It says the sale is for one week on the web site.
I don't know what you want to order but last week there was a $5 coupon that worked with pre-orders.
Anyway I tried to exploit a possible online window with pre-orders and didn't have any luck. The price went up when the title I wanted officially was no longer considered a pre-order. They often raise the price by a few percentages when the title becomes available.
A better suggestion is to try to do a ship to home order at a store with a coupon. It's probably the best way to use a coupon and get the pre-order price.

If anyone is interested in Das Boot being released next week, it's $17.99 right now. I pre-ordered it at amazon back in April when it was first listed and got it for that price, but amazon has since jacked it up to $23.99. According to dvdpricesearch, B&N has the current best online price.
Thanks for posting this sale info, LASERMOVIES.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
I got all these for about $50 total out of pocket on blu from the summer sale. I was waiting for one title to come back in stock and the CA sales tax drop to take effect before ordering. I like to get Das Boot but will wait to see if the sale price holds up until it becomes available and can a use a coupon. Unfortunately I don't have a membership or I would try to pre-order it at a store. With the Criterion sale coming I will have to decide soon whether to get a membership again. B&N won't let me do free trials anymore.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
I was able to use the 20% off membership coupon and ship to home to get the Gettysburg gift set that will be released July 5. I did not get the 10% membership discount for in store purchases. My card was scanned and it was a membership coupon so I assume their computer is programmed not to give the 10% membership discount with ship to home. Is ship to home only available for items not in stock at store? Supernatural Season 2 in blu is 50% off on line but list price in store as an example. Thanks for letting me know about ship to home . I never knew about it before reading it here.

That's normal with a membership. You only get the 10% discount on purchases made at the store. A ship to home order is essentially an online order. If the order was under $25 you still qualify for free express shipping like online. Generally stores don't like to order anything if they have it in stock at their store. However if you were going to attempt it I would try ordering from another area besides the DVD section.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
I decided to try my luck on a ship to home order using coupons with the B2G1 and sale items.
I noticed that the week long Summer Sale includes both seasons of HBO's Rome on Blu-ray for 34.99 each. That made them ineligible for the B2G1 sale online. So I checked the stock of the local stores and they weren't in stock at my favorite store so off I went. I asked the guy in the movie section if I could order them as part of the B2G1 and he said it wouldn't be a problem. For the third, and free item, I ordered the Kino BD of Tarkovsky's The Sacrifice which is to be released on Tuesday. As he rang them up I mentioned that I had coupons. I then handed him a 20% off and a 15% off. As soon as he gave me the total I said I had a $5 off $50 coupon as well. And he took that. I was out the door with all 3 items for $57 and change after taxes.
I think I get nearly as much enjoyment from getting a deal as I do watching the shows and films. My thanks to Lasermovies for providing all the coupons in this thread.

I think I might give this a try tomorrow at store to get Das Boot and the Man Who Would be King since B&N mentioned today on their web site the summer sale is ending Monday. I like to get these titles before the sale ends. Still need to come up with one more $17 title for the free one. Unfortunately in the past when I tried using 2 coupons combined with the B2G1 sale most stores I visited would only allow one coupon. However even with one coupon it would still be a great deal with the current sale prices.
The Outlaw Josey Wales BD is 17.49 and would be a fine choice if you don't already have it.

Success! Put in a ship to home order today with no major problems. I tried using two different 15% coupons but unfortunately wasn't able to get it to work. I got the cashier to try to scan the second coupon but it didn't go through and she wouldn't try to override it. Didn't push it since it still was a great deal with only one coupon combined with the current online prices. Ended up paying around $30 for all three titles.

Nice. I'd like to place another ship to home but can't get there until tomorrow. I hope the sale prices are still live tomorrow afternon.
