Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

Scored Legion of Super Heroes Omni V1 and Spirit HC in Worcestor, MA. Also available, Golden Age Superman V3,V4, Absolute Preacher V3 (which I left behind again), Silver Age Supergirl V2, Absolute Batman/Superman V2, Injustice Gods Among Us Year 1 deluxe, Superman For Tomorrow deluxe. Kirby is Mighty and Kirby is Fantastic, but you have to ask for them.

Was interested in World's Finest and Batman Brave and the Bold Omni and Batman Gerry Conway, but no sign of those.

Surprised Preacher even got an absolute release. Not a book I immediately associate with great artwork.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

The store put out Superman Golden Age Omnibus Vol. 5, which wasn't there before. Pains me as I bought it last year near full price when it looked like it was going out of print.

Kind of concerning for sales if three volumes of Golden Age Superman omnibuses needed this much clearance. I've long waited for Silver Age Superman omnibuses.

If the rumors are true we won't see a silver age omnibus for a long time. I read somewhere that DC was not reprinting comics from before the year 2000. I'm sure there will be exceptions (The Dark Knight Returs, Watchmen and more), but I don't know if we are going to see big omnis of the older stuff.

Nice find, though.

Preacher was massively popular, Vertigo's biggest series outside of Sandman. As far as the art goes, it was consistent (which is a rarity for series that run for six years) and every issue of the regular series was drawn by Steve Dillon. Making it it an Absolute was an obvious choice.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

in the comments in this instagram post, somebody spotted a Deadpool Adamantium collection for $69.99 at Ollies in January. A couple years back they did have King Size Kirby, Avengers Vibranium and Captain America Vibranium collections. Maybe other stuff is showing up or they're doing deep cuts in the warehouse and finding stuff.

That Robin omnibus must not have sold well, I remember Instocktrades trying to blow them out super cheaply a few months back.

The Brave and the Bold omnibus is a great find. I own all three volumes.

Nice. Great Jim Aparo art and some really odd ball team ups. I remember the Robin back up strips in the Batman comics.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

My local Ollie's used to get some great stuff a couple of years ago. Now, not so much. They barely have anything that gets posted here and the book areas are a wreck.

I stopped by there today just to see and the only thing they had of interest was The Spirit Archives Volume 3. And they had probably 20+ of them for $7.99. Why not spread this stuff out better? I really doubt they will unload that many at my local store.

I didn't pick it up. I have a problem buying random volumes. If I buy Volume 3, then I have to go find the first two sets and then I am on the hook for the remaining volumes. It's a sickness that I am trying not to feed anymore.

Went to a con in Roanoke over the weekend and there was a booth selling nothing but trades and HC's. You could tell they bought everything from a few Ollies

Yep, I've done that before. Buy a cheap volume 3 or whatever, only to want to hunt down the earlier volumes at much higher pricing.

I'd bet your store has some books from the shipment waiting in the backroom if they got the Spirit Archives book. While a few locations will dump every book they get on the floor immediately, other places will drip them out slowly with no rhyme or reason.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

Been to a couple of Ollie’s and the pickings were slim. Found volume two of Batman Earth One hardback and no volume one or three at either store. Picked up a Supergirl and a Flash paperback. Need to figure out ok how to get the price tags off because they really bother me.

Yeah, it's a lot easier when the hardcovers are wrapped in plastic so there is no need to pull the sticker off.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

Traveling, went to Ollie's in Raleigh, scored Clay Mann DC Poster Portfolio. they had art germ volume 2, but I passed.

Got Green Arrow 75 Years celebration, John Byrne Wonder Woman volume 1, Joker 80 years celebration, Wally Wood Thunder Agents, Impossible man trade paperback, Killing Joke Deluxe Edition.

Left behind Prez, though I was tempted. It had the never before seen cancelled comics calvacade issue in it.

Also picked up a couple of 5 packs because they included some gigantic artsy book from maybe England? "Ink" or something like that. I can edit later and tell you what it was.

There was also a superman rebirth volume 1 deluxe that I left behind and maybe a Batman rebirth deluxe volume 2 (Batman and Catwoman on the cover)

It was better stocked than the Ollies I have been going to.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

The two locations closest to me are almost always picked over unless you show up within a couple days of the books being put out on the shelves. Though bigger items like the DC Poster Portfolios tend to linger longer. Those are beautiful but you get home and realize they take up a lot of space.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

I was only three miles from an Ollies in Jersey, but it was not meant to be. I will just have to be happy with my loot. Locally in the North East it's been slim pickings. Also, the two oversized volumes in the 5 packs of comics were "Pen and Ink" from Boom Studios and featured Black and White Comics with commentary from the artist and writer. One had HIT #3 and #4, I forget what the other had, but they are interesting and seem to be noire detective stories. The other volume had a couple issues of Day Men, again with commentary.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

My local Ollie’s now have collections, random soft and hardcovers, in many of those 5 packs for $5.95. Nothing great, but cool to see more of the titles before purchasing.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

My Ollie's used to be great but they have been very lean on their selection over the last year or two.

I stopped in the other day and was surprised to finally see a couple of nice titles such as Absolute Superman Batman Volume 2 and the nice hardcover Sandman series Volume 4. Nothing I wanted but hopefully they will start getting some better items.
