I did see Wondy Rebirth trade paperbacks but no hardcovers.

Probably the most impressive item was a Gerry Conway - Tales of the Batman Vol 1 hardcover for $12.99.

If people are still interested in that huge Avengers box set, there are several copies on eBay clearly picked up from Ollie's going for $150 and up. Obviously more expensive than finding a lone copy at Ollie's, but the days of me driving around the East Coast looking for cheap graphic novels are over.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

My Ollie's has been shit over the past year. They have basically left the book section to die and haven't replenish at all their inventory. No one knows why, cause it is one of the most popular departments in the store.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

Ollie's North East. New stock on trades, must be the $3.99 stuff in the newest ad (just went up today). DC Rebirth stuff. Dini hardcover Batman Dark Night: A True Batman story.
Nothing exciting on the hardcover front, no omnis, no epics.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

Got the flyer in the mail today and it had this (Starts 9/1/22)

Been striking out at my store lately. Not much on shelves. But I also noticed a new comic book store opened at the other end of the shopping center...

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

My nearby Ollie's only re-stocked with 2 new things: 10-pack bundles of IDW recent back issues, including TMNT, Batman/Maxx, Transformers, Star Trek and GI Joe. The second item is the Star Wars Marvel Covers HC book

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

Has anybody ever been to an Ollie's grand opening? or better yet, a recent Ollie's grand opening? I'm trying to figure out if they try to beef up the graphic novel section, i.e. they've been holding back hardcovers or omni's for new store openings. New store opening on the outer limit of an easy drive, so trying to figure out if it will be worth it.

First time I have seen an omnibus there, they had the X-Men Inferno one for $37.

In my experience, I'd probably say no to your question. I think bigger retail locations tend to get preferential treatment, while older and more run-down stores don't get the best stuff. I would say newer stores tend to get more quantity of whatever they receive.

Even in the very heady days when these graphic novel waves first appeared at Ollie's, there was little rhyme or reason why some locations got everything and others got comparatively little.

I don't think a lot of thought is given in how Ollie's divvies up their books between stores. This extends to their other book sections like their Christian section as well.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

Has anyone been to the Pittsburgh/Ohio Ollie’s stores? I see there’s a bunch out that way, and wanted to possibly make a trip out to multiple ones in search of some graphic novels

I live near the Dover, OH store. Other than a couple books here & there, the graphic novel section has been pretty stagnant since the beginning of the year when they got a bunch of Omnibuses.

Thanks for the heads-up on the SW Covers book. I was wanting that and luckily one of the two Ollie's near me had it. One had none and the other had probably 15+ copies.

I was hoping in the last month to stumble upon that pricey Avengers set. I was gonna get it if I did and am usually pretty lucky at that kind of stuff, but I never secured a copy. Don't know if my two Ollie's got any or not.

I’m avoiding Ollie’s because I end up buying more junk food than anything else.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

I should mention the new 5-packs of comic books are pretty weak. They package mostly older Marvel/DC issues on the front and back, while the middle three issues are largely junk from indies and no-name companies.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

Looks like there's some restocking going on at Ollie's. Some guy on Instagram posted this:

Tales of the Batman - Gerry Conway HC
Justice League World's Greatest Super-Heroes Alex Ross HC
New Teen Titans Vol. 7 Paperback.
and a few others.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

I’m really more interested in the older classic collections myself, everything else is pretty widely available on digital. That Challenger’s Showcase is right up my alley, the only thing is Ollie’s rarely ever had has vol 1’s of things, and I don’t want to buy books anymore at anything other than steep discounts.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

Years and years ago I picked up about six different showcases when these graphic novels first appeared at Ollie's but I haven't seen many over the past couple years.

The lack of Showcase collections at bargain bins like Ollies has to do more with how DC has discontinued that line of books. What we are seeing lately is basically their New 52, early Rebirth overstock. We don’t see many Marvel books either but this is due to the distributor, Penguin, having more control of what gets distributed. Once they decide to clear out inventory, we’ll start seeing Marvel trades at Ollies and other discount stores again
