Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

One location got new books in, more of the DC Poster Books from different artists and a few new hardcovers like The Justice Society of America. They also had 10 packs of recent DC Comics issues for only $6.99, probably the best deal if you like modern comics at all. One pack unexpectedly had a Nathan Szerdy variant cover.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

Found a few new DC hardcovers and softcovers bargains today, including one I think is a fantastic deal. The Watchmen set is awesome if you've seen it in person. Basically each issue is turned into a hardcover. Unless you own the Absolute edition, this Watchmen set is the one to own.

Rorschach by Tom King hardcover $6.99

Superman: Year One by Frank Miller & John Romita hardcover for $6.99
Amazon Amazon

Batman: The Dark Knight Master Race hardcover $6.99

Watchmen: Collector's Edition Slipcase Set for $27.99

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

Hit my local Ollie’s today and nothing decent. Hundreds and hundreds of trade paperbacks and single issue grab-bags, but all older stuff. Hope that Watchmen set ends up there though!

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

I forgot to mention how happy I was to see a young 10-year-old boy pawing through the packs of individual new DC comics.

Went by a different location and found a couple different new items. The deluxe edition of Batman: White Knight hardcover for $12.99 and the Watchmen Companion for $8.99.

There were a few new DC trades like Knightfall volumes.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

It's not a giant haul but looks like some Ollie's are getting in a select batch of DC hardcovers and trades - mostly Wonder Woman related but a few others like Swamp Thing, Hellblazer, and Batman '66. The big prize seems to be the George Perez Wonder Woman omnibuses spotted in the wild.

I picked up the watchmen boxed set last week and a couple months ago, an Absolute Wonder Woman by Azarello and Chang. I'm still looking for the Perez Wonder Woman and a couple of DC hardcovers that were spotted last year. A World's Finest hardcover and a Batman by Gerry Conway that I never saw.

Seekonk, MA - I picked up Wonder Woman through the years. Left behind Batman War Games (V1 I think), Izombie, Teen Titans Go vs. Teen Titans Go (close to omnibus size), some kind of oversized League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Absolute.

These are the kind of deals I get at my Ollies lately. Nothing.

That's a bummer. That fell out of a multipack that was probably selling for $7.99, maybe $9.99, I picked up a few of those a couple years ago. They were fun, not worth $9.99 each and probably not worth the original $5. One new serialize(?) story and then reprints, originally sold at Walmart.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

Customers at Ollie's often rip through those multipacks of comics checking to see if the set is worth it. Seen it at many different locations before. The company packing them does have a habit of putting "decent" and interesting comics on the top and bottom, while sandwiching in junkier fare in the middle.

Sometimes they even add ratio or shop exclusives. There was some bad feedback about that couple years ago.

I've seen those packs include Free Comic Book Day issues no one would want.

Someone on reddit posted an ollie's haul with pictures. Looks like some ollie's got the Moon Knight by Huston omni, the X-men Hellfire gala, Kirby Eternals Epic Collection and Luke Cage Omnibus. So, maybe some new books are showing up.

Talking generally beyond comic book trades, I've noticed Ollie's has been stocking less and less frequently the past year or so. Their food section has noticeably dwindled in fresh stock the past 18 months.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

Since Ollie's deals with overstock, and the current inflationary economy probably leaves less stock available to them. Basic supply and demand economics; with prices going up, it's safe to assume that there isn't as much stock as there once was.

As far as graphic novels go, with all of the truckloads of Marvel and DC stuff being dumped off at Ollie's, it's safe to assume the publishers were over-producing by a wide margin and have taken measures to mitigate that situation. They've probably figured out what the general demand is for almost any given title and lowered their print runs accordingly so they don't have a mountain of stuff like New 52 piling up in warehouses.

I found one store with some new Marvel books in them, I think they were put on the shelf either this morning or yesterday.

They had 3 of the Luke Cage Bronze Age Omnibus, about 8 of The Phoenix Omnibus (almost completely pointless if you own the Claremont X-Men Omnibuses), the X-Men Hellfire Gale (modern 2019 series), a few copies of New Mutants Vol. 2 Omnibus, two copies of a Moon Knight (2006 series) Omnibus. Didn't see anything else interesting but it's very possible others got to them before I came around.

The main thing I wanted was that reported Doctor Strange omnibus which I didn't find.

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet

Nothing at my Ollies. I called ahead. Didn't believe them and went anyway. Wild Berry Pop Tarts and a jar of Peanut Butter filled pretzels were my consolation prize. So much for cutting back the carbs. I do think some books are going to show up, though. I was oggling Hamilton Books and Bookoutlet to get an idea of what might show up at Ollies. Likely candidates? Captain Marvel Omnibus - A Hero is born and Black Widow Omnibus, which actually has some stuff that doesn't get reprinted often.

I ran into the Captain Marvel Omnibus a few weeks back at HomeSense of all places, the sister chain to HomeGoods. Price was $50 if I remember correctly. Probably would have gotten it if they had priced it lower.

I'm going for luke cage if I can find it and thor and phoenix even though it's a double dip on the uncanny volumes. It's been too long since Ollie's had new stuff. Since last August by my reckoning. Captsmee did you see previous stuff coming out again? Wonder Woman Perez? etc.
