It would really suck if I couldn't even plug in my external HDD full of PS4 games. I hope that isn't really the case.

One thing for sure : I am going to power that sucker all the way down every time I want it off once I get PS5.3. No more Rest Mode. I do think that may have messed it up. A couple of times it just froze going into Rest Mode and never completed the process.

Weird question. Is there a way to get the PSN freebie titles without having the system set up or PSN activated? Maneater is free and it would be cool to get that this month but expected delivery of system is Feb 6th. No big loss but would be nice to get that.

You can do all that on the website. Setup an account and claim your freebies.

Not to mention this will save you time when setting up your PS5 as it lets you log in via QR code.

I feel like this is going to be a pain in the ass. Somehow my email is associated to an account. It isn't me, so I assume someone signed up incorrectly. I tried the password recovery thing to see if I could change the details. Nope, tells me the security questions are incorrect (which they should be since this isn't my account). The only way to contact them is through a Chatbot (terrible, does nothing) or via Twitter. I've sent them info and they DM'd me, but what they are telling me doesn't make any sense. Do they have a phone # to call? Or a live person I can talk to online? I feel like Decker getting the run around (sorry, this is nothing like that). I absolutely do not want to use a different email, since this is my primary one, so I sort of want to get this resolved.

That might be a difficult problem to fix. So weird and random. I guess that the Twitter account @AskPlayStation is the best way to go. Good luck.

Worst case, you can use a secondary email. It's not like you need to use it much at all once you sign into your account. You will have a unique username and password. Though I totally get wanting to use a non-primary email address.

yeah, so i did some more research. apparently this happens when you already have an existing Sony account. I do (TV is Sony). Apparently it's some stupid ass janky thing that won't allow you to merge the accounts. Dumbest shit ever. I ended up finding my old PSN login and I used a different email address, so I got in with that. I guess I'll just use that from now on. Ridiculous that I can't actually speak to someone via chat (no wonder you were so frustrated Decker).

How do you not know the answers to your own Security questions? Did you forget your first pet's name?

Turns out it was mistaken email thing. I have a very simple Gmail account (early adopter) and I get so many fuckwads who can't even enter their own email address correctly. I did end up speaking to a very polite and helpful human. They send me an email with indication that email was used incorrectly. I respond to the email, which shows them I have ownership of it. Someone reviews that and then should allow me to use that address to sign up. Yay!

So my PS5 has started doing a weird thing, it keeps shutting all the way down when I put it into rest mode.

Anyone purchase a skin for the PS5? If so, how was installation. The white just is god-awful. I hate it. My wife is going to hate it. I see there are companies that sell them, but read they don't install well and are a pain in the ass to do.

Dbrand would be the way to go, IMO. I don't have their PS5 skins but the products I've purchased from them have been well made. It's more of a vinyl wrap than a sticker.

They abandoned their production of it because they did not like how it turned out.

edit: i just checked their site. they appear to be making a shell for the system that will be out sometime this year. maybe i just wait for that.

If you act quick, it looks like CMP Shells still has some inventory on their newest batch of replacement pieces in black. They somehow were able to start selling again recently. Not as cheap as a skin but better if you're able to get them.

I would wait. Sony is almost certain to release custom plates for the console before too long. They killed a company that tried to sell some third-party ones in advance.

looks like those won't even ship until end of Feb. I'll just wait. I'd trust dbrand if they release theirs. I'd buy one from Sony if they offered it. Would be a stupid cheap way to make a ton of cash. They already have the molds for the shell. Just change out to like 5 colors, charge $50 and that's probably like $48 in profit.

I'll give a review if/when mine show up. I ordered a set a couple days back when they first went back up for sale.
