Digital games too or disc based?

After the reinstall, I didn't connect my external HD, just put in Immortals Fenyx Rising and let it copy and update. It wouldn't even launch.

Oh my god. Sorry man that you’re struggling with these problems with your new system. 2 possible bricks in a row are devastating.

Thanks. Amazingly, this is more of a brick than the last one. At least I still have the phone number of Mark who helped me before. And I was able to fish the shipping box out of the recycling bin

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I wonder if its that rest mode bug from launch that primarily hit people using external drives: https://gamingintel.com/ps5-rest-mod...king-consoles/

Though I'd be surprised if Sony hadn't fixed that by now.

I've been getting the 108255 error as well. Cyberpunk will alternate between it and the error which allows you send a report. Installed in internal storage.

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I still only have one actual PS5 game (besides the Plus ones): Immortals, Fenyx Rising because of the price and because Miles Morales has never been on sale. So it's been basically the Ghosts of Tsushima machine. And even with that it did crash once during rest and I had to unplug it to turn it back on.

So now to be safe not only can I not plug in an external drive, I can't use rest mode?

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

This isn't terribly important, but I just noticed that my Toshiba TV remote can at least partially control media operations on the disc version of the PS5. While playing a 4K blu-ray on the PS5, I can navigate, pause, use the menu, etc. from the TV's remote.

This is because of HDMI-CEC, right?

Yeah, I believe so. Honestly I'd never even heard of that until I mistakenly used the TV remote while watching a movie and it worked.

I think it's the combination. I've put around 100 hours into my PS5 and I use rest mode every time which is multiple times a day and never had a single crash. I still think almost all the issues are related to external drives and compatibility issues. Since an external drive is a completely unnecessary item I'm not sure why people don't just wait until everything is figured out before trying to use them.

Not for me. Cyberpunk is installed on the internal drive and has crashed probably 50 times in my 30ish hour play time. PS5 version of Immortals (digital) has also crashed 4-5 times in about 10 hours of play so far.

Have you ever used an external drive on your system?

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

I wiped my SSD, never reinstalled an external hard drive and still have the issue. If it were a compatibility issue, it wouldn't resurface after a complete wipe and reinstallation of the firmware, would it (unless the external hard drive totally fried the internal SSD, which would be very strange).

Out of curiosity was the external plugged into the front or back ports?

Back. And I'm no expert but I seriously doubt that's the issue. All the games that failed were on the internal SSD and all the games that were playable were on the external HDD.

I connected one day 1 to make sure my PS4 games were still there. Unplugged since then due to the issues I've heard about.

There was a reported issue about usb drives (mostly external ssd) plugged into the back usb port corrupting the system (and in some cases bricking) that's been making the rounds on the internet is all. But the work around seemed simple enough (use front usb). That said, you did a full wipe which should fix anything that isn't a BIOS issue.

There were others that had issues that required multiple database rebuilds, and some that needed safe mode + usb fixes. ( https://www.reddit.com/r/PS5/comment...fix_mega_list/ ) either way what a pain

When I plugged mine into the front I got a message saying it could only be plugged in in the back. It still shocks me this is such a major issue. How long should we have to wait for a fix? That said, I feel way worse for Decker...

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

The Unicorn (pulse 3d headset) is up on Amazon.

I found my PS4 gold headsets so I'm holding off for now (though I don't think VSS works on the PS5)

Re: PlayStation 5 - 11/12/20

A buddy of mine hooked me up for my birthday (we don't usually do gifts) and picked me up a controller charging station when he found some in stock a few weeks back. He knew I hadn't had any luck finding it and wanted to do me a solid. So that was pretty fucking cool. Nore more wires. Yea!

Except for when your controller needs an update. Apparently that's a thing now.

That's been a thing for like 3 generations.
