With what? Metroid? The Switch? Adding grips to your controllers? Using DVDTalk as google?

You're free week is over right? So what did you play? What did you like? General thoughts?
You forgot: What is your definition of middle aged and how are you possibly far from it?

If you want a bunch of free, not-very-good games, the annual give away is starting soon. Let's try to remind each other starting next week.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Got a couple gems today that I wandered on by accident. Rolling Thunder and Rolling Thunder 2 (were these originally on NES?)which I didn’t even know existed. But, I put so many hours into RT whenever it came out. It was sheer dumb luck on the eShop and I can’t wait to enjoy it all over again. Didn’t finish but I tried damn hard. Such fond memories equally fun and anguish. Loved it so and then boom, I found in the eShop somehow. Sheer dumb luck got me one of my favs of all time.

Also, found the original Bionic Commando, but bad emulation and small gaming area. I don’t know if that can be fixed. It’s as if you were playing it on an actual arcade cabinet with just the size of the arcade cabinet screen. Either way, I’ll try some more, but was very frustrating on the handheld. Maybe have to get used to controls.

It's not like a killer deal by any stretch but it's a game I've been wanting and it's the only sale I've seen this season for it:
DQIII HD-2D remake for switch, 47.99 on groupon (for some reason):

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Did we not have already have a thread discussing the Switch 2? I couldn't find it. Should we start one or wait until Nintendo announces it?

The reason I ask is because I received a very interesting email today from Satisfye. They make grips for the Switch. But they were advertising the "ZenGrip 2 - Have yours in hand for next-gen launch". Clearly they're advertising the grip for the Switch 2 and they also say "Shipping Estimated Spring 2025". I wonder if this is a soft confirmation that the Switch 2 will be coming out sometime then. Or are they just hedging their bets and don't have any insider information. It might not mean anything at all. I just found it interesting.

Apparently they already have it online.
https://www.satisfye.com/

They even have a short video seemingly confirming the leaks from earlier.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

^ There was also a game announced recently that listed it's launch in Spring 2025 for PS5, Xbox & Switch 2.

Nothing big on it's own(or worth mentioning when I read it), but with a couple other companies like your grips saying something similar, there could be something to it.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

Which is very strange that they're "announcing" it so early. It must mean that a Nintendo announcement is imminent? I think we've seen these kind of announcements within a week of announcements but not this far ahead. And it's interesting it's using 2 in naming. I really wonder if they'll call it Switch 2. It didn't work out so well for the Wii U. But then that was just a whole marketing disaster along with a confusing name. If the Switch 2 is really basically an upgraded Switch maybe they will stick to it's naming convention.

Watch, Nintendo will throw everyone for a loop and this console announcement will really be the Switch Pro that everyone just knew was coming out ~three years ago.

Does it mater if you have a game playing when you put it to sleep or should you close it down, after a save, obviously?

It's fine to just hit the power button and put it to sleep. Even mid game.

I think you've bought them all.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

I am. You’d be so proud. I’m playing on tv and as a handheld. It’s so convenient. I play mostly the older games, Rolling Thunder, Punch Out on the handheld. It’s been great actually. And I’m working my way through Prime on tv. I’m gleeful.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

The real question is are any of these worth actually playing instead of just adding to my digital clutter?

It would be nice if you could *grab* it without actually downloading each one daily.

No More Snow has a lot of favorable user scores on Metacritic:
https://www.metacritic.com/game/no-more-snow/

Alder's Blood user reviews are "generally favorable":
https://www.metacritic.com/game/alders-blood/

Fueled Up's reviews are more mixed, but they seem to indicate it's good for couch co-op:
https://www.metacritic.com/game/fueled-up/

All the games so far are also on PC, so Steam is another place to find user reviews:

Switchmas Day 4 giveaway is Master Spy
https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/pr...er-spy-switch/

"Mostly Positive" ratings on Steam:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/331190/Master_Spy/

"Mixed or Average" critic reviews, and "Generally Favorable" user score on Metacritic

“This game is good looking, has a good, but small sound track, and is hard as nails. I would recommend it for any master spies, or any people that hate themselves.”

I’m sort of glad I’ve missed day one of these freebies every year. With 12 free games in the bank, I definitely would have bought my 27th game system by now.

It'd cost $6 to catch up, as the previous day's games are on sale for $1.99 each.

Those sale prices look to go for three weeks. No More Snow's sale ends 12/31, and each subsequent game's sale ends a day later than the last.
