Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
So it is compatible with Switch? The gigastone. Just pop it in like the official ones?
|
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Yup.
|
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
And the controllers charge when connected to console, correct? No need for a cable like Xbox and PS5?
|
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Also yes

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Perfect! Thanks sincerely Decker.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
What is this HAC-001(-01) at end of Switch I want to buy?
|
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Personally, I'd wait for the next gen at this point. Also, if you are playing it on a TV, I'd get a real controller. The joycons aren't all that.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
What is a real controller? I do plan on strictly tv playing.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
That's it. Not essential but nice to have when playing on the TV

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
last question...do you have to take the Switch screen out of the Switch holder in order to change discs and stuff all the time?
|
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch

So, if I got the online subscription it’s only good for online games? What if I bought a digital download game, can I download it to system? If I want to download nes games do I need the subscription? Lastly, is the microSD something I can just attach to outside of console, meaning I don’t have to open it up like PS5? Thanks Deck!
The other thing to note is do NOT use up all of your internal storage. It is the only place that saves go (and you cannot move saves physically elsewhere unless you're doing a full console transfer) and so if you run out of internal space you can't play a new game. Also of note that there are different types of microsd cards, you don't really need the fastest ones for the switch (just read reviews). And as always be wary of buying SD cards from Amazon. |

Not to put you down or anything but don't you have an Xbox or something? Digital games are largely the same, you don't need to pay a subscription to download them, you just need to pay a subscription if you play online. It's also useful for cloud backup of saves.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Those games are all wildly different. Are you looking for open world games, first person puzzle games, 2D side scrollers, action beat-em-ups, or metroidvainas?

why be wary of Amazon microSD cards? I got a 1TB so I think my internal storage will be fine.

Amazon sometimes puts third party products in the same "bucket" as their own products when they're being pulled to ship out so the chance you get a counterfeit card is non zero.

One way to get around this if you want to buy from Amazon would be to buy their own brand.

Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
^ so that SanDisk card is compatible with the Switch? Also, you do need the $20 membership with Nintendo to download the older games in their arsenal, correct?
|
Re: Nintendo Switch: Building a New Generation of Hardware from Scratch
Any Micro SD car is compatible. And yes, the online membership is needed to use the NES/SNES libraries.

Luigi's Mansion 3 is a ton of fun. Loved that game.
If you like Zelda, absolutely check out the new game Echoes of Wisdom. My GotY. Same with the remake of Link's Awakening. |
