Nintendo Accounts will be used with the next Nintendo video game console:

I'll believe it when I see it.

They really stepped up their game with the first party titles, Pikmin 4, Super Mario RPG, and the new Mario Game will be buys don't know if at full price but having fun with the Pikmin demo.

Just a few weeks away from the full game so I'm gonna skip the Pikmin demo.

Why? Progress carries over.

So what's the point. Why would I want to play 2 hours now and then wait 3 weeks to play the rest. I'll just play it all when it comes out.

That's actually kinda cool that progress carries over. I did not know that, but I'm with Questyen, I'm actually playing something right now anyway, I can wait.

Most Nintendo Switch demos are that way. Octopath Traveller II gives you 3 hours and up to one save and you can carry over that save (or you can start a new save every three hours and play forever).

To see if you like it? To try it out? To get excited? I mean it’s pretty much exactly the reason a demo exists.

It's a new game from my second favorite game series. I don't need to try it out or get excited. I'm already excited and I'll try it out by playing the game.

 Questyen and I are on the same page. I've been waiting on Pikmin 4 for a decade. There is no "trying to see if I like it." It's a day one purchase. I've waited 10 years, I can wait 2-3 more weeks for the full game.

Meh I am enjoying the demo.

EU requiring easily removable batteries by 2027. I wonder if this will affect the next gen Switch development.

Also  to the rule. I am all for making consumer products easier to repair.

I agree. You should be able to change out rechargeable batteries easily.

Wow, I assume the Switch successor is deep into development so I wonder how much this will affect them.

Will this affect standard controllers?

Well if they release it before the date required, I would assume they will be fine. But I imagine if they make any mid-cycle refreshes, they may have to comply with it.

They might finally have to revise their joycons (and maybe even fix the sticks)

Now will they have two version or make removable batteries for the whole world?

I can't imagine they'd make a unique console for one market. They'd likely make it standard worldwide.

That's true, we're a few years out from requirement. I'd imagine they'd switch gears and adjust accordingly for launch vs. trying to alter things down the line.

 Too little too late IMHO. I was worried about non swappable batteries whenever the first iPhone came out. But that fear has largely fallen by the wayside for me anyways. The batteries tend to last as long as the devices now with either the desire to upgrade or the item wearing out happening before the batteries wear out. Also I've come to like the advantages of integrated batteries as manufacturers are able to design without those limitations of putting in some kind of hatch to access the battery. Imagine how much more bulky the joycon would be with a battery hatch having to be built in. I also appreciate that they can implement waterproofing much more effectively if they don't have to worry about a user replaceable battery. So while I applaud the EU for trying to implement more consumer friendly laws I wonder if they have kind of missed the mark here.

I just found out my library has Switch games for checking out. 103 with availability now. Getting Octopath Traveller 2. There's so many available I could prob renew it indefinitely. They have AW Reboot 1+2, coulda saved 40 bucks. 89 more you can put a hold on. Many popular titles. Now I know! 203 XBOX including a ton of Series S/X.

Everybody should check their local library for all kinds of things to check out: video games, CDs, DVDs. The more you use the library (even if you never use it for books) the better their numbers look and the easier it is for them to keep their budget each year.

Voucher question for the Nintendo gurus here. Can I buy those with a 1 month ($3.99) membership? Or do you have to get the full year? If so, is there a better deal than $20 for the year? I don't see myself using it for much, but if there's a deal I would.

I was just going to buy Pikmin 4 outright but then they announced Mario Wonder which made the deal enticing enough.

Yes you can buy them with a one month membership.
