Of course it was never about the actual games, just the novelty of playing a video game in 3D. I can't imagine any desire to play this one for more than a few minutes.

That was then, this is now. Nintendo is offering two options, a cheaper $25 cardboard headset, and the $100 plastic one for the nostalgic collector type. Most people will go for the cheap option, but they'll make money off the other one.

The reputation/mythos of the Virtual Boy has improved over the decades.

From what I've read, some of the games are quite good, but the system was cumbersome, and the library limited. It failed as a standalone system, but as an add-on for the Switch, it'll at least draw in enough revenue to make this worth it to Nintendo. Plus, it's not really a bad thing to give people the option to explore a relatively obscure game system.

That sucks. I thought the whole library was included.

Waterworld on Virtual Boy. That's a sentence.

The other thing about Virtual Boy is that on release, they said they were thinking about having it display 3 colors but it would then have been $500. Would be cool if they could develop one super basic game now that has multiple colors, but I know that would be asking for the moon.
