You can tell which cover you are going to win before you enter the match. There is a little picture at the bottom right before you click the first button to start selecting your team. Today's reward is green Storm. Or as I know her: 500 iso.

damn, that last wave of the deadpool event is fucking brutal. had 3* maxed thor/hulk/patch and escaped with patch/thor dead and hulk only having like 1500 health. i needed that green storm. one that i never seem to get. plus, i got a luke cage w/ one of the deadpool coins.

no kidding! i used almost maxed panther/thor/captain and only thor survived with 1000 health. panther got knocked out in round 3 and captain was downed with 2 guys at half health in the final round. and, i'm never lucky with the heroic coins anymore. only ever seem to get 2*'s.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

I made it through ok. The key is to use OBW and Steve Rogers. Use OBW to sandbag the goons in round one, by the time it's over I usually have 30 red for Steve, I fire off Aggressive Recon to steal the goon generated AP. Then in round two, Steve cuts everybody down like a buzz saw and usually leaves 1 blue and 3 yellow protect tiles. Rounf three is a cinch after that because all the red come back and I do it again. I bring along Captain Marvel for her black power and I make sure that if I'm going to get hit by a goon I stick her in front of it so at least I get more red AP.

EDIT: Today was all about ISO for me. Sold another Storm cover I couldn't use and came up empty in Taco Tokens. Did get my 4th Gamora from the Patch PvP though.

I got destroyed the first time on that node, but on the second I got through it much easier. I used Patch/Rogers/Falcon, basically relying on Falcon to protect me from taking all that damage.

I'm loving these as someone that didn't have a whole lot of time to dedicate to all the PvP and PvE events to help my 3* progress.

Yeah, those nodes with the waves are pretty tough because it seems like the store of colors moves from one wave to another, and they get a free turn to boot! That final Gorgon/Hood/Deadpool wave is especially killer because Gorgon gets time to set up, hit you, and then Deadpool usually defends you from one-shotting Hood or Gorgon. Plus those blasted attack tiles are whittlling away at your life if they carried over from the last round.

Colors, tiles, etc definitely carry over to the next round. You have to be xtra careful if you pop Patch's green too early or else those strike tiles will bite you in the arse.

I've been getting through that node using Hulk/Patch/Panther. Panther's black will often take out an entire wave. On the last wave, use Patch to fill up the screen with Attack tiles. The enemy gets Hulk angry, and he'll finish them off with cascades.

Yep, I learned that the hard way on my first try. Those smokescreen attack tiles from the 1st wave were such that I could never match them, and they followed me all the way to the 4th wave, popping me with the help of the couple of purple beserker strike tiles that could never be matched either.

Fucked em up good the next try though, where I had 2 of LazyThor's CTS's saved up and ready to roll for the 4th wave.

After the latest update, my pvp events no longer show any indication of how much time is left in them. Anyone else having that problem? Pve ones still show end times.

3 gold tokens from my heroic 10 pack.
2 of the 3 are characters already maxed out with that specific cover and the 3rd is a stupid invisible woman one.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

this new deadpool event is hilarious. the last wave is impossible. if you don't have a high level groot, you won't beat it. i got through to wave 4, and then they bring out lady thor, black panther and sentry. all tanks and all have fully powered up by collecting the previous waves matches. once you get there, it's a never ending cascade of special powers.

i love how this was sold as "the way to transition from 2 to 3 star roster" when, you still need 3* character to even compete in half of the event. absurd.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

You aren't required to use Groot in the waves node for the cover, only in the node to unlock it. I used a MBW teamup stun as soon as I got to the 4th wave to stop Black Panther from multiple ROTP's. Beat it on the first try.

I'm loving this Deadpool Daily. Got 250 HP and Black Panther black from today's taco tokens.

ah shit, that's right. i thought he was essential, but he's not. that should help significantly. but still, the last 2 waves of that grouping are absurd.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

You gotta use OBW and fire off her purple as many times as you can before you drop the last guy and start a new round. Makes it easy as pie.

Season XI 10 pack:

3* Human Torch red!!! 8th cover 3/2/3
2* Thor yellow
2* Human Torch black
2* Ares green
3* Spider-Man purple!
2* Captain Marvel red
2* Daken purple
3* Sentry red already maxed
3* Punisher black!! 8th cover 5/3/1
2* Human Torch black

3* Groot/Rocket yellow from deadpool!!! Only power I didn't have, 8th cover 1/4/3
3* Cyclops black from Gamora PvP, snuck in at 96th place with 522 points 1st cover!
3* Cyclops black from Fuck You Enemy of The State you buggy piece of smeg. Had to score 65000 points approximately to get the 40000 damned points I needed to earn this.

500 iso from Taco Tokens.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

I pulled two gamoras from my two taco tokens today!! Both were green, if the token from the event is green later in the week I'm pretty sure that the only covers you can get from the tokens are the ones available from the event. I pulled a yellow groot last week and yellow mags, those were both the covers available from the event. That's great if need that color, but would blow if you are maxed only in that color.

Edit: I notice T-Bone pulled a black black panther, but I think the event was yellow, there goes that theory.

I'm pretty sure they make you required to have a cover of the character to get a cover (not counting tacos) is that
1) It makes you still need to do PVE and PVP to try and get the characters you don't have or get lucky for tokens. You still need the other events, can't just play deadpool daily.
2) If you are transitioning from 2-3, the biggest problem is that there are so many 3* guys now, and 1 cover of that guy doesn't really help. This way, you only get covers of the characters you already have, you don't need to open a roster slot for 1 cover that you may never get another cover of that character. Today I got really lucky and got 2 gamoras from tokens, will hopefully get another later in week from the daily event, that means my gamora will go from 3 covers to 6, that is huge. It would have taken me months to get her to 6 covers otherwise.

The trick to the 4 waves group is to stock up on AP on the goon rounds, kill the last goon with a skill so you start the wave of AI characters. Many people have reported doing it with obw/storm/mnmaggs. You have cascades, criticals, stuns and ap steal. All useful tools to punch above your weight. If you have decent 3*s, you have a lot of other options as well.

This is off topic, but I figure the guys here are more mobile/marvel fans than the general iphone thread. Marvel Contest of Champions is going to be doing alliances. Admittedly I didn't read much more than the blurb, but any interest in a forum alliance there (a casual one, since the progression in that game is even more insane than this one)?

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

The Deadpool daily has been great. Its a fun challenge. The day with wave 3 having black AP generating goons and wave 4 having BP, was rough. i barely managed to have hulk survive and win.
I didnt have any 1* characters so i couldnt complete the daily to get the extra ISO. I ended up winning the 1000 HP so i opened up a couple slots and leveled up some 1*s. I ended up winning another 1000 HP today so maybe my luck has turned around a little.
my "go to" team for the difficult waves is still hulk/falcon/torch. its a great team if you can keep matching greens
