I think that's the planned change, to make it so you can toggle it on and off.

Got my 11th 3* Patch cover from a Rocket and Groot token the other day and got my 7th Rocket and Groot today from the 18k progression prize. Just need one red and one yellow and Patch will be perfect at 5/3/5. Learned the hard way that his green power is a double edged sword the other day.

Unless you have hulk tanking a color or two, you have to be very careful when you drop Patch's green.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

I'm thinking he could be a lot of fun teamed up with Daken and Falcon. They would make a pretty good defensive troll team. Got my 5th 4* Invisible Woman tonight for my day 340 prize. 25 more days and it's three days of Devil Dino for me.

EDIT: Here's a funny one. Pulled my 10th Hood cover from a standard token..and it was another damned yellow so now my Hood is 5/0/5. I think this is some kind of joke.

EDIT: got my 8th Punisher from The Gauntlet! Don't need The Hood yellow and not good enough to get the deadpool.

I'm telling you, I've never pulled a Hood blue from a token... the five I have were either won or bought. I really doubt that the chances are equal of getting any color.

I usually wait until there are at least 2 purple matches to be made. Usually you can take out one or two of the negative strike tiles immediately. Plus, if Patch is your strongest purple color, he'll take the brunt of the damage next round, then heal himself. That's basically how I use him all the time. He's my fav character.

I'm beginning to severely doubt it's even possible. Hood Blue has to be the rarest cover ever.

I love Patch too, it's just the potency of his attrack tiles that caught me by surprise so my plan is to wait until purples are all bunched together to pull the pin and maybe even have LazyCap's blue ready to fire.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

I've got 5 Hood blues. 3 or 4 were from tokens. I think any specific 3* covers used to be easier to get, back when there were a lot fewer characters.

I got the Punisher cover progression on the Gauntlet, fully covering him for me. I'm up to quite a few 3*s in that category now. At level 166, I've got Black Panther, Black Widow, Captain America, Daken, Psylocke, Storm, The Hood, Thor and Patch. Fully covered, but not maxed, I've got Punisher, Falcon, She-Hulk, Iron Man, Daredevil and Spider-Man.

Beyond the seemingly impossible transition to 4*s, there's not a whole lot left to do that'll feel like an accomplishment. I've got 11 covers for X-Force Wolvie and am planning to buy one more and then sink ISO into maxing him for 12 covers. I don't have more than 6 covers for any other 4*s and am missing Star Lord and Lady Thor entirely. I can't remember the last time I pulled a 4* from a token.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

For X-Force, what covers do you have, maxfisher? 5 green and 5 black are basically essential, doesn't matter as much how many yellows you have. But I think twice about attacking any X-force with green and black, even at lower levels.

I even started a second hood. 4 yellow and 1 black. This is after I redid my 5/5/3 Hood to 3/5/5 (and then Sentry got nerfed). So many yellow hoods...

Unfortunately, I'm at 2G/4B/5Y. I'll have 2500 HP with my next progression reward, so was thinking I'd bump up to 2G/5B/5Y. It's not an ideal build, but I'm thinking it's probably a better upgrade to my roster than another maxed 3* or two.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

Yeah, 5 Black works. On offense, you have to check out the other team to see what their strongest color is, though... especially if it's red, you have to make sure to bring someone that can use the stolen color.

Be careful with leveling, though... too far about 166 and your PvE will become painful; wait, is your 3* Cap fully covered with 5 red and 5 blue? That mitigates some PvE pain for sure.

That 5th black cover is a game changer. It's by far the best power in the game. It is one of the few covers I would highly recommend buying.

Any tips for the Thor 3*/Hulk/Dino node in the second guantlet? Trying to get the green Punisher reward. I've tried BP/Wolv 3*/Cap'n 3* and BP/Cap'n 3*/Sentry. I've tried to take out Thor or Dino first. Nothing working so far.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

I was stuck at an earlier node in the 2nd leg (gamora, blade and beast) forever. they would just keep destroying any team i sent against them. then I got lucky and destroyed them with hardly taking any damage.

against thor, hulk and dino, try and match all the greens before they can. also reds if there are no greens. BP might kind of suck on this one since his big attack will probably give them red or green ap. do you have a leveled up Human Torch? his green power is good and his red it also good and cheap.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

Unfortunately HT is not fully covered. Do have Johnny tho and he is buffed a bit in this event. Will see how it goes.

Edit: didn't go so well, lol. Now I remember one of the reasons why I stopped playing regularly, never-ending Hulk cascades and cheap AI wins.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

You are saving Hulk for last, right? On offense, he's not too scary, so take everyone out first then whittle away at him (which can be difficult if you lay down strike tiles) until you can finish him off in one blast.

While difficult, a PvE full of three stars and four stars aren't that cheap, compared to super buffed 2 *s or nodes with a mix of characters and color-generating goons.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

If you've got a 3* BW at a good level and a character with a lot of health that can tank green, she's a decent way to take out the Thor/Dino/Hulk team. Just make sure that once an enemy's health is close to whatever damage your BW green will do, you're moving on to the next. And whenever the board is light on green, try to piss off Hulk just enough to generate one of his anger countdowns.

I usually rely on stuns (Cap or MBW team ups) to deal with Hulk.

Cyclops.

I guess it's nice that they've been doing some obscure and lesser known characters, or ones to capitalize on the movies, but it's about damn time they do some of the more well known ones.

I missed getting the punisher cover from the guantlet by 2 nodes. it ended before i realized it. I also missed a mystic cover from the PVP because i got beat to just barely out of the top 100 in the last few minutes.
