Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

Man, the computer just got a cascade that gave him double digits in every color from one turn (and over 20 in two of them), plus a free turn. I guess it doesn't matter that much since they can spam powers without needing the resources anyway, but geez.

Wait, a new character is coming out? Should've ditched you guys when I had the chance Let's all do our best guys!

Hmm... running low on coin, this may be the week that Bagman finally gets ditched... which means he'll get unnerfed shortly thereafter.

Green 3* Thor cover at 20k. And this is only a 2.5-day event so it's going to be a mad house for top 150 in each group.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

All usable too? Nice! Glad I promoted you to the big leagues!

So, this PVE is making me use Hawkeye and I think I love my 3/5/5 build of him. Even buffed by the event, he's not even level 94 so he has a lot of potential.

His passive purple (Speed Shot, match 5 for 4xcountdown damage tiles) is pretty bad ass. I'm thinking I want to combine him with Hood (black damages and reduces countdown) and a tile-placer like MNMags (purple places blue) or GSBW (purple places green) to make 5-ways while powering up their own blue/green powers.

Haven't tested that yet, but it feels good.

Classic Storm (green)
Grey Suit BW (green)

Classic Storm x2
Modern Hawkeye
Steve Rogers
Invisible Woman
Ares
Johnny Storm

4 were useful to me, so not too bad. Now to grind for stupid Colossus.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

I'm not grinding for Colossus, fuck that. It's way too much of a time sink. I'll get 1 or 2 covers when he shows up in a PVP event in a few days with way less effort.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

I gotta grind for him because I'm stacked with level 94 2* covers but I have jack for 3* covers. I've got a ton of them but no more than 4 or 5 per character. Got my 5th 3* Thor today though.

Grinding in PVE has been far easier for me then in PVP, so i much prefer it this way.

Can I join the DVDTalk alliance? I'm still working from 2* to 3*. I have 6 maxed 2*, but my 3* have 6 or fewer covers. Imprint86 is my id. I just clicked the "join" button, and I'm pending.

I guess I'm just being put in easier PVP brackets than PVE. It always seems to be that way for me.

I don't know, for me I think it's just getting knocked back down and reaching a group in PVP where all the opponents are tough whereas PVE I can grind those essential nodes without too much issue. Plus it's easier on my schedule to hit a few nodes and then break for a few hours versus having to worry about a shield.

Now that the cat is out of the bag and they realize they missed you expect to see nothing but The Hood and Sentry level 166 from this point.

What helps not getting attacked a ton is to pick characters that you know people don't want to fight. Storm/Ares is a PITA 2* combo for example. Usually the higher HP characters are the ones people don't like to fight against, since they tend to get more of an opportunity to do a decent amount of damage to you.

That seems to happen when I get to around 700 points usually. So if I'm not in a bracket that requires that many points to place decently, then it's not too bad.

What I usually do is place as low as I can in whatever PVP events where I actually want the covers to level up a character, and then for ones where I don't need/want the covers I just do a few matches to place high. That seems to keep me in somewhat possible brackets.

Occasionally I'll see some insane people in the same bracket that have like every single 4*/3* at max level, but usually its only a few people like that, and often they don't play as many matches anyway.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

Even cupcake matchups can destroy your health because of the crappy team up mechanism/cheating AI. Whittled the enemy down to their last guy? Eat a Magnetized Projectiles, Call the Storm and Rage of the Panther before you go.

Freaking Juggernaut in the PvE is a pain as well.

Woah, the computer just got a cascade that generated four match fives in a row... after which I ate a Wind Storm and Call the Storm. Darnit!

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

All of the Marvel games are turning into shit! Don't even bother with the new Spider-Man game. It's a running game similar to Subway Surfers but after level 10 you have to use fucking energy. Total garbage. Even if you beat the mission you still end up using the energy point so even if you win you don't get to play on for another 10mins. You only get to stockpile 5 energy at a time too.

Avengers Alliance crashes all the damned time, sometimes every other match and they are very stingy with in game currency as well. When it crashes, you lose energy and if it's a special mission you lose your iso 8 as well which is very hard to come by.

And of Course the Marvel Puzzle Quest screwjobs are well documented here. I've been getting savagely screwed over by the computer tonight trying to tread water in the Colossus event. Never seen so many damned cascades and team ups and 5 star matches. They are fucking with the code to screw us into spending money on health packs, I promise you. have been using level 94 Wolvie, Black Widow and level 134 Thor and I got killed in one of the normal matches before I could even kill the Lieutenant! Just when I got enough AP to do something out of nowhere Juggernaught dropped the headbutt on black widow twice, dead. Then team up, Agressive Recon, all my AP gone! Then 2 five star matches got Juggy back into it. Everybody dead.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

This PVE is a grind-fest. For the most of the first day, the nodes were fixed-point. Final node was only giving 460 points. Now it's not even getting up to 1500 so the rubberbanding isn't doing anything.

I took most of the day off yesterday due to tailgating, but thought I'd still have a chance. I'm barely getting top 150 right now. I need a cover for the next PVE's essential nodes!
