Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

I'm not sure I'm going to be able to beat the last two missions I have in the second stage of The Gauntlet to get my blue Black Panther cover. Gonna take some luck. How is everybody doing? What is the best prizes for stage 3 and so on?

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

I have 6 left in the finale and they are brutal. Covers are green GSBW and black Psylocke, both awesome. Good ISO and some HP sprinkled in between and it's worth my time even though the covers will just become more ISO.

There are two spots open in "AW Reloaded". Colossus PVP ends at 1am EDT tonight and we definitely get top 100 with or without you. Just focus on your 600 in PVP and you'll start seeing the covers flow in!
Help us help you ;-)

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

600+ is a bit much for me on every PVP. I probably go over 600 2/3 PVP's, but I slack off on some if its for covers I'm not interested in.

Yeah, I figured since I'm putting in the effort, I might as well give it a try.

I'd love to but I just don't have the roster to perform to those expectations...yet. I struggle to get 400 to 500 in PVP. I grind the hell out of PvE though.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

I'm being true to my school and sticking with the sucky dvdtalk alliance even if we are the suckiest bunch of sucks.

I got the 3* BW cover but i dont i'll be able to get the Psylocke cover. I cant get past the ares,OBW,deadpool fight. I can down DP but then Ares one shots a guy with Sunder and then one shots another with Onslaught while OBW heals. I probably wont have the time/health packs to get lucky and wait for some huge cascades.

I wish i would have put some time into the Colossus PvP so i could have gotten another hulk cover.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

I'm stuck on ***Thor, *BW, and ***Storm in the Hero Gauntlet. I try to take down BW first, due to her stuns and AP stealing, but then Storm drops hailstorm and Thor seems to follow up with CotS. That's with me trying to deny green too. What is a good team to use against them?

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

Always kill Storm first, Gooter. Play a little keep away from Thor and Black Widow until she is gone. I'm stuck three missions into the finale. There is just no getting past Fury, 3* Thor and 4* Wolvie all at level 126 for me. Got my Black Panther cover though so all good I guess.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

Thanks Danfindlay. I ended up getting lucky on it. Actually, luck seems to be pretty much how I've gotten past all of the tough gauntlet nodes. Now, I'm stuck on the last one in the last vertical branch in Hero: Beast, she hulk, and one other I cant remember now.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

I finished all 60 of them last night and they were truly nightmares near the end. I used a lot more boosts than I care to admit when I had to resort to cstorm/mnmags to get a headstart.

My go-to team was Punisher/Hood/OBW. If they took one of those from me, I usually subbed in Psylocke.

For me, it was all about quick strikes, AP stealing, and double hits.

Ultimately it all for the ISO as I already had GSBW's green and Psy's black covers maxed. The very final node only gave 2000 ISO as a completion reward and I thought that was a little low for the effort to get there.

Still, it was an interesting change of pace and there's no alliance rewards to help the most bad ass alliances get even more bad ass. I did level Psylocke up considerably through the gauntlet too.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

Oh, so this Gauntlet actually has some decent rewards in the nodes themselves? I looked at the different progression rewards and thought they were pretty crappy, so was basically ignoring it.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

Not really. The same sort of 500/250/100/token you get from other PVEs, but the final node does give you 2000 once.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

But there are cover rewards? Do I need to beat the villain one to open up another one that has those?

EDIT: I see it now, finished the Villain gauntlet and see the Hero one with the Black Panther progression cover.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

The good thing for newbies is that the scaling depends on roster... I don't think I'm going to get that Black Panther cover, even, since the scaling is pretty tough for me (Blue is his weakest power)

I never could get past Ares, OBW, deadpool. I had a lucky run and got down to just deadpool when i still had most of my health on all my guys but he pulled a Whalesx3 and took out my entire team. I started working on the Hulk PvP instead. I hope they have more gauntlet pves as I was able to get at least two 3* covers from it

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

Yeah, I like the Gauntlet even though it is difficult and I won't make it all the way through the Finale. It's so nice not to have to grind out nodes, worry about the clock, etc. Those last two Heroic PvE events almost caused me to burn out on this game. It's too much for me to do the PvE grind and worry about PvP. I just don't have the time to fully invest in both.

If you have limited time, PVP is where it's at when it comes to ranking rewards.

Yup, I know... but sometimes it is hard to ignore the low hanging fruit (new covers are always sssoooo tempting) that, in reality, isn't so low hanging after all.

Finished all the Villain nodes to get Black Panther. Not sure if i'll have enough time to do the last ones, especially not all the way to the Psylocke cover.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

Is opponent matching strictly done via MMR or does it take into account the levels of your heroes? I can level Patch to 140, LazyCap to 130, and a couple of other 3*'s to 115-ish but I'm worried that I will start facing tougher/higher level opponents in PvP (the aforementioned heroes are level 104).

Currently, I can get to 625-700 points in PvP before I start consistently seeing teams of max level Sentries and 3* Dakens at which point I shield and call it a day.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

I can start out fighting level 2 guys and then when i get to 600-700, fight level 200+ guys. Not starting the Pvp right when its new seems to net fewer high level opponents but there are usually enough to fill the top 15-25 ranks, in my experience.

Yep, that's exactly what I see. I have two characters in the 130-140 range, and it happens every time. As soon as I get to around 600 points, bam, here comes the 166+ guys.

This didn't start until I had these higher level 3* characters. I wish I milked it for longer... it was awesome getting 2-3 covers every PVP event.
