I'm debating on going the ps4 route. I have the 360 now. Is there much of a difference between paying $50 for a gold membership vs free psn online? A good robust online community is a plus for me.

You have to pay for PS+ to play online on PS4.

Stupid Origin... states my PSN ID is linked to some other Origin account, but BF4 doesn't see it at all....

So I can confirm one disappointing thing. The Sony Pulse headset does not work with the 1.5 update. When I plugged them in, I got the message "this device is not supported."

So the update for those is still down the road. Greatness Awaits indeed.

Oh crap. I've been with the 360 for so long I didn't realized that changed. I just remember it was free I guess a very long time ago.

It hasn't changed on PS3. It's still free for online gaming, and PS+ is an additional service. Starting with PS4 you have to pay for PS+ to play online.

PS+ has been a really great service on PS3 though with all the free games. Online gaming experience on PS3 is still lacking compared to Xbox 360 according to most, but the thought is that should change now that we're paying for it.

Up until yesterday, in fact. The PS Plus for online play is just PS4. Still free online play for PS3 and Vita.
Also, FWIW other services like chat, Netflix, Hulu are available for free on PS4 even without Plus. All that stuff requires Xbox Live Gold membership on both the 360 and the One.

Having fun with Killzone and Need For Speed, but I really enjoy Resogun. Great game... especially for free

No, you just won't be able to sync the trophies you earn until you can connect. The saves should be fine.

Dammit, I want my trophies! I'll just keep trying, I heard that eventually it should work. It's only been about 45 minutes so far.... ugh.

Knack looks and plays like a more difficult Skylanders. Doesn't seem all that bad, just nothing special. I'm playing on normal and have already had some cheap deaths.

You'll still earn the trophies, but until we have the network, there's no syncing. And from what Polygon has said, there is no way to view trophies unless you're online.

Once you can link your account, the trophies you earned will be synced to your account, you won't lose them.

OK, I found something I can do with the PS4 at this point: Watch a blu-ray!

For those curious, yes, the PS4 will output the audio from blu-rays to the headphone jack. But I don't think the jack has all that much power to it so don't expect it to blow you away.

On top of that, it mutes HDMI audio out when you have the headphones set to all audio.

EDIT: Much like the PS3, you don't seem to be able to multitask when playing a blu-ray. When I hit the PS button it asks me if I want to quit playback.

I plan to get one once Borderlands 3 come out.

Quick game impressions so far:

Resogun is pretty great. That's going to be my "I have 20 minutes so let's play Geometry Wars" game on PS4.

Killzone is a snore so far. Pretty. But dull.

Does Killzone multiplayer have any horde like co-op modes?
