I have always loved Amazon and their customer service. I don't even call I just go on the website and have "web chat" with a representative. Early this year, I ordered something that was going to be a birthday gift for my son. Tracking said it was at my local PO, but the status didn't change for a couple of days so I called the PO and they said it wasn't there. I contact Amazon and the girl said "It sounds like it is lost, let me start the process for getting a new package out to you. "I said, it won't be here in time for my son's birthday." She said "ok, I will ship the package today overnight".
Can't beat service that good.

Plus they give out store credit like it's going out of fashion, it's pretty awesome.

No-way I can bash Amazon with the "Air Bags" inside the box though some could've been on the bottom instead of all on top. I had mine sent to my PO Box at the post office and the box had zero damage. Plus Amazon moved my ETA up twice. Originally it was to be here tomorrow of this friday. Then moved to this past Monday and I ended up getting it on Saturday!. Second...they matched Target's B2G1F...something BB nor Walmart did so major kudos to them on that.

So anybody notice any changes with 1.51? Hell did anybody get 1.51?

I installed it but haven't played around with the console yet. I wouldn't expect anything significant from 1.50=>1.51.

Took about 5 minutes to d/l and install. Huge improvement over PS3. Note said it was just bug and stability fixes, IIRC. Nothing noticeable.

I think it's funny the PS4 came out on Batkid day and the XBox One is coming out on the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy assassination.

Yes, but I'm not seeing a benefit (aside from the fast startup). For example, yesterday I booted up from Standby mode and the very first thing it did was start downloading an update for Call of Duty. Shouldn't it have done that earlier, so I didn't have to wait?

What I don't understand is that I often hear the discs spinning despite supposedly being downloaded to my console.

Yep, that's what I'm hearing too. I don't get it. They spin up on the 360 but as soon as the system validates that you have it installed it stops. So I don't know what the heck the PS4 is doing.

I had the same disc spinning problem...it would spin up and then slow down...then spin up.
I fixed my issue. I think the system is checking to see if the game you have in is installed. The reason it keeps checking is your have too many fingerprints on your disc. I have no proof of this, but after taking out my copy of ghost and seeing 10 different fingerprints I cleaned my disc an it solved this issue immediately.

I guess I should plug some headphones into the controller and see if I'm getting lag there too. I'd say it's an HDMI/splitter issue, but all my other devices are on the same splitter and I've never had a sync issue.

Played some more stuff last night:
- NBA Live 14 demo.
There's no reason to even consider this game since 2K14 exists. The only decent thing about it seems to be the ESPN presentation.
- Injustice. I didn't play the current gen version, but this does not seem to be that much better, especially the cutscenes which don't look like they've been improved in any way. There is no "next-gen"-ness to this one.
- Need For Speed Rivals. You should be aware that this is basically an MMO. I suppose your world will populate with bots if no one is online, but man, being a cop and griefing people who are trying to achieve their racer tasks is a lot of fun knowing it's a real person on the other end that you're ramming off a cliff.

While they're still sorting firmware issues, I've been taking a very cautious approach. I always fully shut down, and I always let games fully install before messing with them.
I got to play a few minutes on BF4 yesterday, and it looks pretty impressive.

Will the new firmware update help my Battlefield at all, or will I have to wait for EA to do something? I'm still getting constant error messages/shutdowns.

re: PS4 Release Thread: Kill Launch App #Driveclub due October 2014!!!
Digital Foundry took a look at the day one CoD Ghosts patch for PS4.
Apparently, sending the 720p version to print was an error...hell of a thing to miss.
The interesting thing is that the "frame-rate dips" some reviewers noted in the PS4 version weren't dips at all, but rather were the result of the framerate sometimes exceeding 60 fps.
So I'm not sure whether the end of this crazy story is that the PS4 is too powerful or that Infinity Ward is grossly incompetent, but it seems like it would be easy to cap the FPS at 60 in a patch.
Here's a video of CoD Ghosts in 720p and 1080p (before and after patch):

Furthermore, when seeking through the footage in performance-affected areas we were confronted with unique frames on a consistent basis, thus indicating a 60fps update that we just didn't feel when playing the game.
So just what is going on? Well, a close look at our captures reveals that Call of Duty: Ghosts actually runs at higher frame-rates than 60fps on a fairly frequent basis, despite the video output being limited to 60Hz. In scenes where we experienced judder and perceived frame-rate loss, what we are actually seeing is the appearance of skipped and incomplete frames - an effect that is arguably far more noticeable than a few prolonged drops down to 50fps or so seen the 360 version of the game.
