So I did this today on both of my controllers. It made a big difference.

It's hard to describe, but I basically stuck a tiny sliver of electrical tape on the...if the male part of the DS4 stick were shaped like a rectangle, it would be the short sides of the rectangle.

Everything is nice and snug now.

If you notice a little bit of a wiggle on the Xbone sticks, and your name isn't Supermallet, I recommend doing it.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I think I found the issue with my erractic behavior on the triggers during games. i would be playing and out-of-the-blue the gun would fire on it's own. Switch guns and it would fire. Back again it would fire but it wouldn't if I hit the trigger. All this time I thought it was some Bluetooth receiving error. The Right Trigger doesn't spring back like the left so it is sticking. Has anyone else had their triggers stick and if so what did they do or try to fix?

Haven't heard anything on Planetside in a while, have they just given up on it or are they still claiming it is coming out on PS4?

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

Decided to open up the D4 controller and "fix" the R2 button issue I was having....sticking and random firing. I found two YouTube videos for a guide and seems it's all because of a side pin on the trigger gets broke and a smll pring on the other side causes the trigger to be pulled enough to pinch it. I took the small spring out and while taking the thing apart the spring fell off on the other trigger. I couldn't figure out how it went back in and said screw it...put it back and everything works. The triggers do spring back still but not quite like the other controller...you can tell a difference but they didn't stick the whole night playing Destiny.

My spring fell out when I opened it as well. Took me a few minutes to figure out how it fit back in.

There's a little groove on the interior side of the trigger where the spring sits.

Watch this from 7:30

I may still do the Thumbsticks...still not sure if Xbox or PS4 metal ones. I read you can get the replacement triggers on Ebay but I don't buy anything on there anymore. Looked on Amazon and they're not on there yet.

I had no issue what-so-ever last night with either trigger missing the spring. It just doesn't "pop" back as quick but neither sticks either. If anything that stupid ribbon cable from the top to circuit board gave me real grief. That small white plastic part came out with the ribbon and I had a heck of a time getting it back in place.

You need to watch a bunch of videos a bunch of times before taking that controller apart again! I mean, you aren't Supermallet levels of inept, but I still worry a bit.

FWIW, you could probably have just done the pencil trick to stop the sticking trigger, and unless you broke a trigger (not sure how you'd pull that off), you certainly don't need to replace it.

I didn't break the trigger but one end did break off which in the videos I saw seems to have happened a lot. I took the spring out and the other side still snapped in ok and works better than it did. I followed this and at the 3:00 mark he show's what my trigger exactly looked like with the tab broke off.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I recall reading that some people have had problems with the triggers. Maybe they should have been a little more robust.

The metal triggers that I got are about the same size as the DS4 triggers. Height. Width of the stem under the thumb cup. The downside is that the grooves on the rim are straight in toward the center. They don't provide much grip. If your thumb is on the rim and your pushing up, your thumb seems likely to slip.

The One sticks are slightly taller and the stems are about a tenth of a millimeter thicker. You will get a slightly smaller range of motion in the controller. The thumb will move more because of the increased height, but the control underneath will move less. The checkering around the rims provide great grip.

Not sure what the above has to do with you calling the thumb sticks / analog sticks, triggers...

I was responding to the discussion on triggers only in the first line. I typed triggers in the second paragraph, but I meant sticks. If I had noticed at the time, I would have edited it. After the fact, I'm not inclined to.

There's a pretty good interview with a artist who is now working at Naughty Dog over at Dual Shockers...

http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/09/...our-socks-off/

One of the questions they asked was...

G: While we know you can’t go into details, what do you think of Uncharted 4 from the point of view of someone working on it and seeing it grow up from inside?

A: It’s going to blow your socks off so hard that they’ll burn a hole through the Earth and come out on the other side – that’s all I can say really : )

I took my DS4 apart again. Checked it from top to bottom. Can't find anything that should cause it to be totally dead. I called the video game repair place, left them a message, never heard back. I ended up ordering a replacement controller from Amazon Warehouse for $45.

I didn't realize this game is coming out in November (and for both Next Gen systems to boot). Being the third major car racing game of the season will probably hurt sales (as well as the terrible, generic, place-holder sounding name). Still it looks good. If the DRIVECLUB demo/free game proves disappointing, I might consider this.

I picked up the blue controller over at NewEgg tonight using Visa Checkout for $45. Might be worth checking out if you would rather have new instead of open box.
