The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong
I decided to give the Sony Gold headset a try. It seems good quality for the money. Could use more bass. Extremely easy to set up. Unfortunately, the ear cups are a tad too small. I wish I could swap out the cups of the Gioteck EX05. Better fit and the cups are lined with microfiber rather than vinyl.

Here's a pretty neat video with Sean of Hello games on No Mans Sky, insight of the concept, a brief history with some footage not shown at E3. Hard to believe for such a small outfit they've done this...

The game isn't graphically amazing but it is artistically sound, small teams tend to be better for stuff like that.

I love the Gold. I have the Elite as well but prefer the Gold. The Elites were uncomfortable to wear (for me at least) for a prolonged period of time as the top part hurt my head. Have not had that issue with the Gold. The Gold are also lighter than the Elite. Haven't noticed any difference in sound quality but I'm not an audiophile and wouldn't notice it anyway unless it was really bad.

Yeah, I was thinking it resembled an X-Wing. But large portions of the original BSG were obvious rip offs of Star Wars though, so it shouldn't be surprising that there's some similarities there.

I've got a pair of a all-purpose Rocketfish Wired Headset that does the job, sounds decent for the price, feel comfortable with the felt/micro-fiber but as mentioned wired. I saw the add for next week and instantly though about getting the "Gold" but it was mentioned the cups are vinyl which I really don't care for. Without breaking the bank whats a set, series, manufacture and wireless that is for the PS4 with microfiber/felt?
I thought about giving the Trittons a go but I think all their cups are vinyl. Never had a TB set and I see Astro Gaming, Skullcandy, Dreamgear among others. I actually don't mind using a single cup but I do like a bit of in game immersion and detail but above all a clear voice from other players instead of that echo hall effect. Thanks....

I looked at the Skullcandy Plyr 1 when Amazon had them for $130. Overall good reviews, but a number mentioned that the cups were smaller than normal. The pictures look like the cups might be fabric. The cheaper Plyr 2 looks similar but lacks surround.
The Logitech G930 cups don't look like fabric, but they are removable. Fabric replacements might be available. The G930 are surround, but says stereo for console use.
Next week I should be able to try the Astro A50.

FWIW...Amazon also has the "Gold" sets on sale at $69 reg $99
I looked at the reviews (464 with a 4.5 Stars out of 5) and the general impression is they are well worth it. I've got today to readit over and look more. Right now I'm leaning that way. One of the reiewers mentions the Logitech G930 like you. On Amazon it mentions these will work with the PS4 but Stereo Only(?) I might look at them as well but need to researh if they are others in the PC area that works also with the PS4. No rush since the BB sale is all week and not really playing much PS4 wise now but end of July it's The Last of Us. Thanks

I guess I am watching the wrong channels because I never see PS4 ads and constantly see them for Xbone

Albeit I don't watch a lot of commercial TV, I've noticed the adds to be about 50/50. Maybe Sony just spends more money on the ads themselves, as they do look more expensive.

Sony should nab Skinny Pete and Badger for an ad.

The Gold headsets are back in stock at Newegg for $70. You can also get $15 off by using Google checkout on their iPhone app. I picked up a pair for $55. Figured they would get some use by the time Destiny came out
. It also sounds like they work with the XB1 if you buy the adapter.

FWIW...I ordered a used pair of the Skullcandy PLYR1 7.1 off Amazon. I was really tempted on the Gold with the mark down price and spent a majority of Sunday doing reseach and reading reviews. Seems almost Top 5-10 Headset listing had these Skullcandy PLYR1 on it. New they're $180.00, scratch & dent around $139.00 and used for around $80.00. There's a great tutorial on the offical Sony Playstation site by someone showing how to properly setup and get the latest firmware. I'll keep everyone posted on how they do when I get them.
