Some cool editions of The Order up over at Amazon

$79.99

$149.99

BTW, do we not have a thread for that game? I could have sworn that we did.

"Collectors Editions" for new IPs are weird; no one's played it, no one knows much about it, it has no established fan base. Who would drop $150 on something not at all established?

Someone that wants a cool statue? I'm still pissed for missing out on The Last of Us collectors edition that was sold at Gamestop. I did get the survival edition, but would love to have that statue.

Every single person who spent $100 more than that on the absurdly large Titanfall Collector's Edition.

I did too, but I saw that as a sort of sequel to System Shock, which I was a huge fan of.

Yeah, I did too. But if I remember right, it was only $69.99, which was an awesome deal for that big daddy statue.

Yeah Bioshock was only $10 more than SRP not $90 more. Huge difference. Also haven't seen anything as cool since.

It was the last special edition I bought that didn't offer additional in-game content. IIRC, I also bought the special editions of Little Big Planet 2 and Fable III.

I DL it but yet to even ply. I've been just hitting some forums trying to get a handle on the modes and misson types while trying to find something just to "get my feet wet". I thought there wer some missions that are co-op style but uncertain. I opted for the Tank side.

Also I guess we're still waiting on word & details of Planetside 2...along with 1-2 million other PS4 ownes. Today is the last day of E3 correct?

Yeah, I was always a little bit cool on War Thunder, and cross play with PC was NOT a good thing in my opinion. I may get around to it, but I have lots of other stuff I want to play first, and like K&A said, Planetside 2 will probably be my preference over War Thunder.

My Big Daddy broke from that set. (I got a replacement!)

When I look at collectors editions I always break out what is inside and ask myself what I would pay for what is left after the game price is removed. A chip, or stickers mean nothing to me, and I would not pay more than a dollar or two. DLC is harder to put a price on, but for the most part collectors editions offer weapons and very small in game items, so the value is also a dollar or two. That usually leaves an art book and or statue. Most art books in these things are a disappointment, but a good one is worth 10 bucks to me. The statue is never worth more than 20 bucks to me.

So after breaking it down I usually find 10-30 bucks in value on most collectors editions. This was fine early one when collectors editions cost 69-79 bucks, but the last few years they have moved up to the 99-150 range. Spending 90 bucks on a statue and some dlc is crazy...

I'm not sure if it's fully justified for The Order. Much like people will line-up to see Pixar movies (well, did, until that Cars 2 combo breaker) or Tarantino flicks, it's similar to company based fans for Titanfall (Respawn) and BioShock (Ken Levine). SCE Santa Monica and Ready at Dawn don't have that kind of recognition, though they have worked on several God of War titles, and SCE Santa Monica has had hand in a lot of noteworthy PS3 titles.

That bioshock statue was awesome, although I went through a major ordeal getting mine replaced (I got a free Little Sister out of it, so )

I'm kind of done with special editions. I considered the Titanfall one, but I'm glad I never went through with it. The SEs for The Order do nothing for me, so I'm definitely not getting those either.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I don't think The Order is going to be a very good game.

It seems to take control from the player a ton, and seems to be built around QTEs and not progressing until you perform very specific actions that are prompted by text. It looks even more linear than Uncharted and it seems to have a dash of Heavy Rain but without the decisions and consequences.

I'm skeptical, and even if the quote was taken slightly out of context, I think there's something to them prioritizing story over gameplay.

More Linear than Uncharted isn't possible.

re: The PlayStation 4 / PS4 Thread: Still Going Strong

I think I asked this in another thread but it got lost in the shuffle. This involves the Playstation TV item they talked about. I have one question. Can I stream PS3 games I now have through PS+ so that I don't have to buy a PS3 to play that back catalog?

YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!!!!)@*#!)!!

I can totally understand your concerns. It most definitely seems like a game that stays on the rails. I'm okay with that if it's still enjoyable/entertaining/whatever, and to me, it appears to be all of those things (including whatever... whatever that means)

Still, it's my most anticipated game right now, and I won't let you ruin that! You're not my real dad!

I doubt it, though it should be easy to tie to your account. That's a FAQ question for sure.

If you own PS+ digital copies, then I don't see why PS Now wouldn't let you stream those games for free. As long as your PS+ membership is active, of course.

I don't think so, unless they somehow plan to tie your digitally owned games to PS Now, and I haven't even heard a rumor about that happening, even if it makes perfect sense to me.

It's a Vita. All of the same capabilities. Just plays on your TV.
