Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
So I'm about a day or two from getting the final prize (Jabbo?) and I've already crafted all of the nicer prizes for me to keep around. With the event wrapping in about a week and with all this crafting currency lying around, I've decided to not make the same mistake I made at the end of the last Easter event and go ahead and start converting currency into decorations now. I may or may not have a use for them later, but they're essentially free and I can always store them forever if I don't come up with a clever idea.
I've started by stockpiling fountains to help me decorate the front of Nero's Palace. I don't have a photo to share yet - if we're friends, you can go look at what I've done - but essentially I've put Lance Murdock's swimming pool in front of Nero's and have ringed it with fountains to replicate Evel Knievel's 1967 stunt jump in front of Caesar's Palace.
I'll probably end up buying many many many more fountains and cycling spotlights. I haven't checked, but it would be cool if they could be placed in Krustyland, on the Squidport, or on any of the Springfield Heights Pier tiles. I am also debating whether I'll leave my Gambling district where it is (in SW Springfield along the shore) or transfer it to Springfield Heights and have it split between the shore and on the pier. Now that I've maxed-out my pier, I can start moving tiles around to see what look appeals to me more.
Last - I'm looking forward to the end of the event. It'll be nice to just grind for cash and complete all of the suspended quest lines that have been placed on hold.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
I was just wondering who was spending $7.99 on those.
But it sounds like they've been worth the spend, especially if you're already looking to buy some donuts. There was one time when I was going to buy some then figured I might as well get a golden scratch-r because at the very least I'd get my money's worth, and I think I got some extra besides.I've started by stockpiling fountains to help me decorate the front of Nero's Palace. Hell... I'm still trying to finish the eighty-seven part Burns-heavy "Wages of Sin" quest that's tied to the event, plus I haven't made time for Burns/Smithers to be occupied for a 24h step in the Reclusive Mr. Burns quest. Ignoring that I have to send Texan and others off on his own quest... plus I stupidly bought the All You Can Eat (1 Plate Only) Buffet over in KL which has a quest as well. Plus the money mountain and the fucking tree. Arrrrgh! Too many quests!

I'm confused (maybe) .. I still need 305 cards for the black diamond tower, but all of the craftable items that give cards are used ... how do I earn those last needed pieces?

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
I blasted through Act III and got the last prize a few days ago. I think it helped to have 300 tokens saved from Act II when I was definitely going to come up short for the last prize and let it go. Lucky me, I wanted all of the Act III prizes. Whoever it was here who said the House of Cards has the best return, I've only played that in Act III with the 5 tokens at once and I earned tons of chips, thanks for the tip.
I also bought a Platinum Scratcher. I haven't put any money into this game in at least a year or more so $8 seemed okay. I got 125 donuts and picked up the Vegas Wives because they're two separate characters and were from a funny episode. I spent some of my saved donuts on the Rich Texan during this event and will move into his storyline after the event is over.

Half a day to go, and I still have a few hundred of each crafting item despite spending them on dozens of random spotlights and fountains.
At least I'm down to only 25 tokens. I've gotten a number of donut bonuses and am sort of tempted to get one of the premium casinos (Caesar's or Plato's) because I like my Vegas area, but they'll probably seem less interesting when the event is over so I'll probably just save them.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
I didn't expect the event to end right on time, and it sort of didn't. But what did shut off was the bonus donuts. It's cool that the people who hadn't gotten all the prizes had a little more time to try to do that, but the only thing I had to gain was more crafting items so I just went ahead and did the upgrade. As was mentioned earlier, we haven't had a new level in quite some time, and we still didn't get one here. The only good thing is that I can finally work on the tree and the Texan and Florence quests, and the monorail is a lot easier now that I have metalworkers again. But by tomorrow I could have nothing to do, and it'll be back to 24-hour tasks.

Really enjoyed the casino event. The first event I played hard. Got all the crafting items, and completed Act 3 (got close on the other ones)
BTW none of my friends in the real world play this anymore, so any DVDTalkers want to be Springfield friends?

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
That's a bummer! Hope it works again soon.
Do we know when the next official event or level will come out? If it's going to be a while, do we want to try a friends event like I described in post #5926?
stingermck, what is your username and I'll add it to the OP. Bluelitespecial, I added yours the other day (Jedi Jabroni).

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
Looks like some sort of firefighting event has started. There are buildings on fire all over my town!

Yeah, I like the event so far.
Pros:
-Something new to do!
-New stuff!
-We can actually help our neighbors again!
Cons:
-Pretty slow going so far unless I buy premium items. But I'm hoping to get my third prize today so I figure I'll get there eventually.
-Getting help from a neighbor is a pretty small benefit.
-Only two characters so far can earn event currency, but since we started with one, I'm hoping more will unlock (especially the prize character).
-The fires can be hard to spot, and I've hit some randomly that I didn't even know were there so there could be more hiding behind buildings, etc. I tried to arson one of starseed's high-rise condos but apparently hit some small thing behind it that he'll probably never find.
-Like with other events, there's a limit to how many times we can benefit ourselves from visiting neighbors.
The other good news is that I finally finished the damn tree.
I was working on the Rich Texan's quest as well, but now he wants to do a two-day quest with one of my only fire people, so sorry, Rich Texan. You're going on hold again.

I've been back into this, was passively doing the casino stuff, and missed out on a bunch. The fire stuff seems interesting. However, it's still taking forever to get the bullshit from Springfield Heights. I'm not about to wait around and generate 150 yoga mats, 75 of which are just for Smithers to do one task.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
I spoke too soon. I'm back to only one character earning currency, and it's taking forever. And it seems like I went nearly all of yesterday without getting medals from visiting my neighbors, and then today I got medals from like five towns before it shut down again.
And there aren't many random fires in my town either. I'm trying to be patient figuring I'll eventually get there, but it's really tempting to spend a few donuts.
The next prize is a firefighter skin so that will definitely help, but the threshold will probably rise accordingly.
Welcome back! The annoying thing about Heights is the many different increments of tasks--30 seconds, four minutes, 16 minutes, etc., and then they all cannibalize each other. To make any big progress, you kind of have to suck it up and commit a lot of time.
