Ugh, I saw this thread last night right after I sent people on tasks. THEN I forgot about it and sent people on tasks this morning AGAIN! So I'm a little behind, always a great way to start a big event!

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
And yeah, I just lost 15% of multipliers because of the hideaway. Fortunately I'd only gotten around to getting one because I didn't have the beach space for all the add-ons. I guess the good thing is that you don't need to place the add-ons now because they don't do anything, and it's still a good multiplier, but not the insane deal it was before.
I'm 1K short so far but should be able to hit that today.

Thanks! I didn't know this, and every little bit helps.

EA caught a lot of flak for that, particularly from the mods at TSTOAddicts. A patch went out yesterday to restore the XP bonuses on all of the Hideaway buildings and expansions.

As in the last event, money spent on crafting goes to further your Construction Yard level, so don't simply level up -- craft stuff.

Is anybody getting the cobblestone road for 40 donuts? It's an interesting idea, giving us this kind of thing for donuts. Can imagine them doing that for the dirt roads from the wild west update. Still, I'm considering it. Anyone else?

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
I visited someone's town (JasonC11) who had the cobblestones, and they looked really good. Forty donuts, though! That would be a huge multiplier if spent on a beach hideaway. I agree it could be some kind of trial balloon to see what we would pay for, in this new world where donuts are easier to acquire than they used to be.

Just earned the last prize of Act I and already over halfway to the first level of bonus donuts in a few minutes of tapping (2800 film needed for donuts).
Anyone need extra neighbor taps to get you some more film? We're at less than two days and sometimes every little bit helps.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
My password kept getting rejected (even though I know it's correct because I enter it multiple times a day whenever the game updates ) so I had to reset it and have no more problems.
I burned most of my donuts on the island and the biodome. I regret the island a little bit just because it's out of my sightlines most of the time, but it's not a big deal. Working on the last prize now.
The railyard task is going to be a little tougher since most of the characters have event tasks, leaving only two (including the hippie) who can build plastic.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
Plus, I decided I wanted The Shinning Hotel but I needed more donuts, so I purchased the 24-hour XP collider recharge on Saturday, then figured I might as well get the zombie sandwich first so I could maximize my earning with the premiere tasks. That worked fine for part of the day, then the network went down for pretty much all of Saturday night until Sunday morning. Of course all my characters were on one-hour tasks so I missed out on over 12 hours of XP collecting. I filed a request with EA for a partial refund of my XP recharge but haven't heard back yet.
I did get enough for The Shinning, though. In the process, I hit level 939, at which point the level-bonus donut disappeared. Instead there's a higher level threshold that then gives the 1-2-3 donut bonus. I believe this is a net loss for donut-earning via XP, but I don't mind too much.
I earned the first Act 3 prize and have maxed out my MAG so I expect to earn all the prizes.

level 939. That is insane. I think this is it for Tapped Out. I cannot imagine they are earning any money on this game with the donut opportunities and how long this game has been out and how many people have drifted away over the years. As long as I can still access it, it will be cool to keep playing though. I will be a long ways away from level 939.

Yeah, the levels come fast and furious when donut farming with the XP collider. But yeah, I can't see how many people are still spending money unless they're specifically trying to support the game. EA hasn't even offered any Gil deals on donuts in eons so I guess they're just trying to offer new stuff and seeing if that will compel people to buy donuts to get it.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
Yeah, glad to hear it's still earning money. I do remember a number of us getting Gil donuts a little while back when there was some kind of rebate.
EA gave me an Amazon-type response to my ticket, saying "We got the game back online! We're awesome! Closing ticket!" I knew their agenda was to close things out as fast as they can and wait for people to complain, so I reopened it and said they didn't answer my question. Then in the follow-up, they offered me 15 donuts. I figured that would be the resolution so I was satisfied, but the donuts were really less important than the principle of the thing.
One more act 3 prize to go.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
So, while we wait for the Christmas event, during the smallish Thanksgiving event, I'm planning to level up.
Getting close to level 300. I have ~70 million in cash. What's the best technique to level up fast?
Last time I:
- Bought the XP extra (with donuts)
- Bought the blood cars (with money).
Anything better? faster?
I have ~300 donuts right now.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
Yeah, I updated yesterday only to find nothing, so I probably missed out on a few bonuts. Then Thanksgiving started today.
You're on the right track. I spend five donuts to charge the XP collider, then use cash to buy the rat trap delivery trucks. At some point I'd heard that was the best payout, but I'm not actually sure, and I didn't find the answer online. I also put my people on short tasks, but I think that's a pretty small return compared to buying the XP-heavy vehicles.

Yeah, 5 donuts on the XP Collider and buy rat trap trucks for the best payout.
Picked up the meats guy and his cabin for 135 donuts. I don't remember him but 135 for a character and building is a good price. Been a long time since I bought a character for an event than earns event currency so that should help.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
Got to Level 580 or something like that. 500+ donuts too.
Started to make space in the center for the Christmas event. And since this is the first day after Thanksgiving I turned on my Christmas lights too, using the magic switch of course.
I can't wait to see my Springfield all white again!

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out
I kind of went on a spending spree with the returning items: Tribal casino plus multiplier sign, and the Wild West film set, both with a character for under 100 donuts each. Then in Gil's hourly deals, I got the wrestling sign and the Lotto 'n' Liquor. I still have enough donuts left to maybe get an item tomorrow, but my game is still updating constantly, so getting on in time for a specific hourly deal can be a challenge.
Good thinking on the holiday lights. I just turned on mine as well. At first I thought it might be too early, but we put them on the house today so I guess it's not.
